For me, the problem with trying to register is that the "registration process" is outsourced to www.onlineregister.com which no longer is providing this service for adobe. After a certain nuber of uses the program fails to start unless you register but you can't because the outsourced registration process link is broken. And adobe doesn't seem to have a process in place to get you an activation code. I don't think it simply a code that we all can use and share. You can get your photos from:

C:\Documents and Settings\{your user name}\My Documents\My Pictures\Adobe\Digital Camera Photos

if you've being using Adobe Photo importer program. So you haven't lost the photo. You may have lost the photo caterization you've done using the Adobe tags.

So far I haven't figured out a way to get Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition to start anymore. If I do, I'll try to post my solution.
