For those who cannot see the buttons for "Register" and "Activate" in Betamaster's activator, that is because of the font size that has to be reduced.
Reduce font size, reboot, and start betamaster activator again.
You will be able to see the missing buttons.

Also make sur eyou have the newest BetaMaster Patch. Run patch and under information see if it says 11-02-2006. If so, you are good. If not, download the new one for it is the only BetaMaster patch that works with new version of alcohol 120.

Re: Alcohol 120% 1.9.6.4629 by jw8855 on 2006-11-05 21:03:40
If that doesn't work try from scratch. Uninstall completely (removing left behind folders and files) and clean registry. Reboot. Then Install Alcohol 120 and do the instructions exactly. I did it this way and it worked perfect on the first try and it has been running in background for 20 hrs (rebooted 2) and still registered. Did not have to block with firewall or do anything to the host file. Patch works by itself if done correctly!
Re: Alcohol 120% 1.9.6.4629 by jw8855 on 2006-11-05 21:05:35
If program checks for updates you'll be screwed and you will have to start from scratch for sure!
Re: Alcohol 120% 1.9.6.4629 by jw8855 on 2006-11-05 21:09:49
Oh, and I also deleted patch from direcory after patching so programs would not see a file that didn't belong there. Programs today check thier installation from time to time so I nver leave a patch in direcotry anymore no matter what the program is.

RE : by jw8855 on 2006-11-05 21:38:56

This is the number one reason that people are having trouble and also not turning off check for update feature under settings.  Make sure to completely uninstall (removing all files and folders), then run a reg cleaner.  after appling patch and turning off update feature, you should reboot for changes to host file (patch server check) to take effect.

Patch does work by itself.

Re: Alcohol 120% 1.9.6.4629 by kup on 2006-11-05 23:03:54
This version of Alcohol seems to have the context menu bug. Right click either the virtual drive or an image file and you don't get the option to mount it. Been looking for a fix but so far I've only found reports of a fresh Windows install solving the problem. It must be something to do with older versions of Alcohol being there first...
RE : by Pharmaserve on 2006-11-06 05:15:01

I have this problem also....

This is the Way what I do~~

uninstall & re-install 4629,then run the patch.. ONLY "Activate" "Register"[internet connection LOCKED] run Alcohol.exe ..confirm the Virtualdrive can mount the image..

run the BM patch "Patch Server Check"~~

Good Luck~

Re: Alcohol 120% 1.9.6.4629 by jw8855 on 2006-11-05 23:15:00
This is starting to get old. Please fully uninstall and remove any files or folders left behind and run a reg cleaner, then reboot . Start installation and follow directions to the tee. It will then work as it should! I will not post anymore comments on this subject because it has all been covered.

Best suggestion is to READ!

Sorry but this is getting crazy.

Just READ.
Re: Alcohol 120% 1.9.6.4629 by jw8855 on 2006-11-06 04:34:21
It has to do with the pixel level on your display.
I use 1024 by 768 at 60 htz and have had no problems.
The patch has limitations as far as pixel level is concerned.
Or could simply be a corrupt patch. If this doesn't get results then try to find another copy of the patch from a reliable source.

Everyone wants to blam the patch and it is user interface problem or settings in their machine not a patch problem.
Re: Alcohol 120% 1.9.6.4629 by jw8855 on 2006-11-06 04:45:33
under display goto Appearance, in the middle you'll see size. Try and reduce that also if adjusting pixel level doesn't work. Remember to reboot before trying patch again.

Re: Alcohol 120% 1.9.6.4629 by jw8855 on 2006-11-06 05:19:01
Makes no difference. If you fully uninstall and remove any folder or files left behind, including reg. entries, restart and install. You should have no problems. It has to be a clean install for it to work. That means removing everything that has to do with Alcohol 120.

Re: Alcohol 120% 1.9.6.4629 by therat on 2006-11-06 16:07:49
Simple FIX for no shell extension

After you have installed and activated and registered alcohol, if you do a server patch before running alcohol the shell extension doesn't work. to fix do the following:

Go to the Alcohol folder and delete alcohol.exe and rename alcohol_.exe to alcohol.exe

Run the alcohol program (be sure you have blocked internet access).

Close alcohol.

Copy the alcohol_activation program to the alcohol folder and run.

delete the alcohol_activation program.

Shell extensions should now work.

In a nutshell, during install you need to do the server patch last and be sure you have run the unpatched alcohol.exe before running the server patch.

@jw8855 & Carlos !

"For those who cannot see the buttons for "Register" and "Activate" in Betamaster's activator, that is because of the font size that has to be reduced.
Reduce font size, reboot, and start betamaster activator again.
You will be able to see the missing buttons.
Carlos"

THAT WAS IT !!!
I couldn't see the buttons due to my high resolution 1600x1200 @100Hz AND, most importantly,
the DPI font setting as Large size.
As soon as I reduced it to Normal size, e.g. 96 DPI, all returned back to normal and
those 'Info', 'Activate', 'Register' and the below 'Patch Server Check' buttons are now visible !

Gr8 ! I had a slight thought about the PC resolution but didn't listen to the inner voice good enough, lol.

Thank you, guys !

Hi new poster here,

I had installed alcohol 120 previously but never got it to work so now I am trying to follow the directions exactly as written above. I am total self taught computer user and I do ok. My question is where do i get the BM patch to put into installed dir? Will it be in the alcohol 120 install? Will it be labled patch or what?

I havent re-downloaded alcohol 120 yet as I just got done with registry cleaner. Also there is one folder in c:\programfiles tittled "alcohol soft" with another folder in it that is called "alcohol 120" that it wont let me delete, I tried. Can anyone try to help me please?
thanks hanh
