Referer:
This optional header field allows the client to specify, for the server's benefit, the address ( URI ) of the document (or element within the document) from which the URI in the request was obtained.
This allows a server to generate lists of back-links to documents, for interest, logging, etc. It allows bad links to be traced for maintenance.

It's no wonder the keys get blacklisted so quickly. You are idiots 9Down to post live links! :( :( :(

the only idiots are guys like you, that have no firewall to block anydvd to call home and check the key.
if everybody would block annydvd to go online, no key ever will be blacklistet.
so shut up, and be happy, that 9down.com is ever actually!

Do you know what a referer is? Do you know what a live link is? Do you know that software companies check their logs and backtrace from which websites a file has been downloaded from? Do you know that certain websites will be highlighted in a filter (like this one)?
So they then update the setup file so that the key no longer works!! Don't you get it?! This key has only been out a few hours but the setup file will get updated really quickly because of people posting live links to the Slysoft website - like above! Jeez!!
Re: AnyDVD v5.1.0.1 Final by MickyFoley on 2005-04-19 19:52:33
damn ... you dont check it, do you?
no referer in world will be able to blacklist the key ... damn ...
only if people let the app call home, and dont block it with their firewall ... this is the only thing, how blacklisting is functionally.
slysoft checks, how many people are using that key.
so, if noone is blocking it from call home, slysoft can count it.
if too many people are counted to use the same key, so the key will be blacklistet.
man man man ... if you dont know from what youre speaking ... let it better be ... thx

Whatever. You are completely wrong and totally misunderstanding what I mean - totally. I suggest you Google and do some research. [shrugs]
By all means post the link for files to download 9Down - just please don't make them live. (If anyone can be bothered expaling what I mean please be my guest).

Just simply block it with your firewall and disable check for updates in anydvd.
It is not the life link that makes the key blacklisted, and as far as i know anydvd is not calling home if you disable the automatic update feature.

Well, appman is wrong when he said that people here are "idiots",
but he is right talking about "live" links.
I never (NEVER) click on a "live" link (on a site like this). I copy the adress and paste it on mozilla,
getright, whatever. It's a good policy as long as the software developper can't trace back where
is the link to his product.
But most people will click the link, so maybe would be better just write down here the links
(only the links to the apps, of course) as plain text. Why not?
It was my short temper that made me use the word idiot and I apologise. But thanks for backing me up and explaining that live links are ill advised. Let's just say that whoever posted the story was extremely ill advised to use a live link and that they are probably ignorant of why.

I think the problem with all that blacklisting is autoupdate, every time is a new version, the old key is not working anymore. So uncheck the autoupdate, and it should be fine.
finally someone posting how things are getting done. applause ! ;-)

Is anyone else having the problem of after ejecting a disc that is finished, whether importing to iTunes or just playing a CD, having an error message come up and say "no disc is in tray. Please insert disc" and when i uninstalled 5.1.0.1 it stopped doing it. Any ideas?
Thx guys

Appman,
As long as I can see, live links are a problem by itselves, and that's the relevant point. Even a developper that do not use the "autoupdate feature" can trace valuable information and "update" his app.
In another words, that's not a problem concerning this app, but a more general (and relevant) problem. But well, we must say those things without too much passion, 'cause not everybody knows how Internet works. Regards.
