Whats the best software to repair and speedup the system...

Best way to speedup your pc is to use CCleaner, TuneupUtilities2008, Perfectdisk2008 boost my pc a alot :P ( always check setting panels for hidden stuff )
Just make pc clean as possible and remove junk and defrag with perfectdisk and try do be up to date with the software and drivers you have
( Vista has a lot of stuff integrated so it will not get slower so much as XP < what needs extra programs for speedup )

[2008/05/23] - BitDefender Total Security 2009 Beta 1 - Known issues
Modules that are still in progress (to be delivered in the following beta kits):
• Online backup for Windows x64 systems
• Vulnerability scanning
• Registry control
• Wizard to create new antimalware scan tasks from basic view
• Integrated online support wizard
• Activity tab in the firewall module
• Parental – Time limiter
• History events for several modules

Known issues:
• Sometimes, on Windows Vista, BitDefender Registration Wizard starts after system restart even after the product has been registered and activated.
• Monitoring components status (from basic view):
- The "Stealth mode is disabled" issue can't be fixed (by default this issue is not monitored)
- The “Fix” button doesn't work on Parental Control related issues
• Settings:
- The Basic Settings do not work for firewall and antispam issues
• Functions:
- Rarely, if "scan http traffic" is enabled and the user has an older version of Yahoo Messenger cannot connect on port 80 (http traffic is disabled by default)
- Identity rule does not detect target strings in the body of the e-mail
- The BitDefender User Interface can only be opened for 1 user at a time (when switching users).
- Parental Control Heuristic filter set on the Child profile blocks all http traffic (this filter is disabled by default).
- Game Mode is not enabled automatically when detecting a known game.
- Parental Control Alert for blocked applications is not displayed (however, the application is blocked)
- The button "BitDefender Antispam" from Microsoft Outlook Express Antispam toolbar does not open the BitDefender User Interface
- On Windows Vista x86 & x64 systems, the computers in a HM network appear offline (workaround: start BitDefender with the "run as admin" option from the contextual menu)
- After mounting a file vault, if you switch user, the mounted vault is visible to the other user.

Possible performance issues:
• Svchost/thunderbird takes the CPU to 75-100% when receiving emails with thunderbird
• When BitDefender Behavioral Antivirus is enabled (from Advanced>Antivirus>Scanner Settings) some systems might be slowed down. If you experience this type of slowdown, please disable it and restart your computer.
