CPU-Z is a diagnostic tool that provides information on your CPU, including: processor name and vendor, core stepping and process, processor package, internal and external clocks, clock multiplier, partial overclock detection, processor features, supported instructions sets, L1 and L2 cache information, location, size, speed, and technology.


CPU-Z is a freeware utility that provides some information on your CPU :
- Processor name and vendor
- Core stepping and process
- Processor package
- Processor current core voltage
- Internal and external clocks, clock multiplier
- Partial overclock detection
- Processor features, including supported instructions sets.
- L1 and L2 cache informations : location, size, speed, technology.
- Motherboard informations : BIOS, chipset, memory, AGP.

Why wouldn't i just go look at my box or manual the thing came in?

Because CPU-Z gives much more information than any official documentation, even more than your manufacturer's website or processor manual, if you have one. For example, does your documentation tell you the clock multiplier of your CPU, its L1 (not L2!) cache size or its code name? I would think not.
