RE : by tiffy on 2007-02-03 21:55:32
The latest versions of some softwares requires the latest update of DirectX to run, there are other reasons as well.

Yes, it's good to update your DirectX files as they offer performance and stability enhancements. =)

Only if you play GAMES or APPS that require it ...
or use newer hardware (PCI-E video cards)
ex. Need For Speed Carbon, Wind DVD 8...

Otherwise there isn't that much improvement...

You might as well upgrade all your latest hardware drivers (ATI, RADEON, SB Blaster, etc) while you're at it...

Any chance to get directx 10 to run on xp?
RE : by c4p0ne on 2007-02-04 02:35:09

haha! And have MS risk not being able to bully the living fuk out of addicted gamers into purchasing Vista?? I don't think so. This is part of the patent-pending extortion scheme of MS. If I knew there was a possibility of DX10 on XP, I would be able to close the lid on the Vista garbage can.

Oh well whatever. It's the evolution of Windows so everyone will be running it in a year anyway. 95 > 98 > NT/2000 > XP > Vista.

If its possible for you guys, use the web installer, its much less of a download, and more up to date instead of almost regular monthly updates.
