what's the difference between 9.0c and last time the 9.0c?

when DirectX 10 will come?

i m facing prob in downloading this file

I downloaded perfectly just minutes ago.

is it really necesary to update my current directx 9.0c october update to this one?
any usefull improvments?

Probably no need to download this. DirectX 9.0c was released in 2005 if I'm not mistaken (or perhaps even earlier than that).

There's never any changelog for these "updates". What the heck is the difference between this and the 2005 version? Just adding support for newer video cards, fixes for certain games, or what?

The first is to update older versions to the latest base version - 9.0c, and the second is to install special updates to Directx to capitalise on new graphics card/driver features. For older games it still is Directx 9.0c, the main benefit will be to provide the latest system to the latest games that are programmed to use its features.

Therefore, there won't be any performance enhancements as such, only benefits are for programmes/games that are written to make use of the newer files.

what r we suppose to do with all the Zips?
extract them all to a specified folder?

and after i installed it is there any tweaking I'm suppose to do to improve my system?

This is an Update for the Direct X 9.0c...It's like other updates provided by MS for you PC...I didn't notice any harm or advantage but anyhow I like to keep my system up to date!

I think that just sucks ass if microsoft is going to drop DirectX support for Win Xp users! I'm not going to jump on the Vista wagon as of yet. I think Microsoft is making a bad move forgetting about their Win Xp users. Man I just think that sucks hard! No DirectX 10 for Win XP :o(

Well folks it looks like we might have a little gleam of light for the longevity of a Win XP gaming machine after all. I dont' know about the rest of you but this kinda puts a smile on my face I dont' want to have to change an OS just for DirectX 10. I like the way things are running on my Win XP machines & if I can help it I dont' want to change anything.
