use one of baselkanaan's nice keys and download official copy directly from eset using link at top of this page; no need for any rapidshare links from the spammers.

i see the keys u posted are the same as the ones i got; maybe u should have posted only half of the keys just in case they blacklist some, saving some for later.

Keys have been blacklisted, or never worked at all. You can install the program, but you will not be able to update the virus signatures, rendering it useless. Fix needed.
RE : by NOD32King on 2007-11-02 09:52:22
mine is still updating fine, so dunno about u config...
RE : by ChronoZaga on 2007-11-02 15:09:49
Oh, right, duh. I'm using 64-bit.
RE : by ChronoZaga on 2007-11-03 03:55:04
I was incorrect in saying that the usernames and passwords are blacklisted. I made a silly mistake. I was using the 64-bit version when the usernames and passwords are for the 32-bit version.

If you managed to download from the password protected site and installed the software with the SAME username and password then you are good for LIFE! If they blacklist the usernames/passw the update on the software still works.

No dude.. your wrong. If it was that easy then there would be no need for all the fixes for previous versions. Once a key is blacklisted.. no more updates dude.

Eset smart security comes with firewall, antispam, antivirus and antispyware, nod32 antivirus is the standalone product and does not contain the firewall but has all the other features mentioned.

let's be clear.
eset started out making antivirus.
why would u think antivirus company would make good anti-spyware, or good firewall?
for antivirus, go for good antivirus company.
for firewall, go for good firewall company.
same thing with antispyware.

SUITES ARE FOR NEWBS!!

No dude.. your wrong. If it was that easy then there would be no need for all the fixes for previous versions. Once a key is blacklisted.. no more updates dude.

If this was the case then, WHY BOTHER posting the usernames and passwords in the first place if ESET is going to blacklist them and render our softwares useless??

I say that if you catch them while they are FRESH and install your software, it remains that way..

For example.. all the usernames-passwords are blacklisted in the above list! but my copy can still connect and update :) :)

RE : by ChronoZaga on 2007-11-03 03:33:01
I was incorrect in saying that the usernames and passwords are blacklisted. I made a silly mistake. I was using the 64-bit version when the usernames and passwords are for the 32-bit version.

Eset DOES check your username and password each time you connect to update your virus definitions, I know from experience. If your un/pw is blacklisted, the update will fail. They have the capability, it's very easy to implement, and it would be just plain idiotic for them NOT to do it.

It has always been a FACT that you have to keep gettin new username/pass to update. EVERYONE KNOWS THIS. WHy the hell you think "NSANE" keeps making newer versions of the fix for the program? You think its just to pass time?! I have used NOD32 since it first came out.. and EVERYONE.. has to keep gettin new pass/name. THere are even sites out the post new keys everytime the old ones get blacklisted... WHY? SO, you can update dude! THats why! Otherwise you have to get ahold of a FIX for the program. For instance, "NOD32.FiX.v2.2-nsane.exe"!! Obviously, your mislead because you got ahold of a key that nobody posted and therefore you have been the only person with that key. Hence, why your updates keep working. It however wont work to UPDATE the software... like a newer version.. but it will update the definition list. However, once even that username/pass is blacklisted your fugged!!! Well, unless you catch the fix for it or new pass/username.

RE:ESET NOD32 Antivirus v3.0.551.0 Final (32-Bit / 64-Bit) by pascal4 on 2007-11-06 22:10:40

The key system works in 3 different ways:
- some keys work  for all 3 types of downloads that anyone can perform from Eset's servers: downloading NOD32 v2 administrator edition, downloading NOD32 v2 standard editions and downloading updates
- other keys work only when downloading the standard version of NOD32 and updates
- and finally there are keys that work only when updating NOD32, but they don't work when trying to download the installer packages (the setups)!

There is also a difference between how update servers are synced. Some servers might accept keys that have been blacklisted on others because they're out of sync... that means that while some ppl have trouble to update, for others it might work... but not for long as all servers will sync sooner or later.

The nsane FiX works only for the v2 of NOD32 and that's because v2 and v3 have different update locations on servers for one and second because v3 doesn't have TRIAL servers to update from unlike v2. This is the key of the nsane FiX, it uses trial servers, servers that are present only in the trial setups that can be downloaded from Eset without the need of keys and also they are servers that don't need keys to allow the down loading of updates. THIS IS CRUCIAL for illegal use because without those free TRIAL servers we might get stuck withunting for passwords or risk using anonymous update servers to keep up with the definition updates. AND THAT WOULD SUCK!

As I said, right no there is NO trial update server for v3, so updates cannot be downloaded for free and even if v2 updates would be forced, they're not compatible with NOD32 v3 so they won't do!

It's either pay, hunt or use the older version 2.7 which is good enough. I haven't been infected, not even once since I changed from Norton a few years ago, and I use KAV, BD and a few other anti-crapware solutions for on demand scanning.  So all I can say, test it, if you like it buy it! If you don't want to buy it, then prep your aspirin and pray you'll find locations with fresh unblacklited keys every couple of days as most of these locations get shut down withing months of surfacing!

Goodbye nodCRAP; Hello Kaspersky!!!

Published July 12th, 2007 in Corporate Talk

"Eset's nodCRAP has long been our favorite anti-virus program at NeoSmart Technologies.
In recent years (mainly from last year though), nodCRAP has fallen WAY BEHIND in the detection rankings, but for the most part had remained a decent choice. Virus.gr has the latest testing results as summed up in this post at CyberNet News. In the latest round of tests (and the one before that, and the one before that) Kaspersky is yet again at the top, with a 99.23% detection rate for the newly-released version 7 and a 99.13% for version 6. But all changed with the release of Kaspersky 7. In a test run, we found 3 different trojans on our machines (for a total of 6 infected files) that nodCRAP hadn't detected (even with heuristics enabled and set to the highest level) which Kaspersky picked up immediately.
The real kicker wasn't the fact that nodCRAP missed a trojan, it was the fact that 2 of these trojans have been listed in the Kaspersky virus signature database since mid-2006, and that when reporting such missed trojans the nodCRAP team replies in a mostly arrogant manner.
Looking at this thread where a nodCRAP user reported to their tech support that several common trojans ((One of which was found in our test run here at NeoSmart Technologies)) weren't picked up by nodCRAP but were by Kasperksy, the replies by nodCRAP moderators are quite shocking. They start off by claiming that the original poster's title is misleading purposely accusatory (which it isn't, objectively speaking) and this later escalates (when a new poster claims to have a list of 21 trojans nodCRAP failed to detect) into accusations of virus-harvesting and purposely looking for nodCRAP's weaknesses.
What should have been a simple "thank you for your observations and our apologies for the inconvenience" became a highly-ridiculous "nodCRAP can do no wrong" thread. We've been recommending nodCRAP since the start, but to us it is clear that this is where we part paths. If a company makes a mistake an oversight of a single trojan, that we can live with. But when moderators on their forum insist on turning it into a personal attack against anyone that has any issues with nodCRAP, it's sign that something very wrong is underfoot.
So, goodbye nodCRAP, you've served us average throughout the years (as previous threads and articles will testify). But it's time for a new AV that continues to improve and without taking offense to simple mistakes. Unfortunately, pride and failure often to lead to one and the same thing - and if there's a better alternative, we'd be fools not to take it."

RE:ESET NOD32 Antivirus v3.0.551.0 Final (32-Bit / 64-Bit) by uagadugu on 2007-12-04 14:10:53
Why Kaspersky IS Better Than nodCRAP - Here’s another reason!

By: Alexander Dimitru, Security Expert

"You can’t always tell which is the best anti-virus for your machine, as all the vendors will claim they deliver top-notch solutions, that they are leaders on the market and all that. Also, you often get facts stating that in some test a certain anti-virus ranked first, but they rarely state what competition they had. In any case, in view of recent events, Kaspersky beats the crap out of nodCRAP; and I will give you some facts and explain why it is so.

A computer with nodCRAP and Windows XP SP2 had been infected by several Trojans. The AV found two of them and no matter how many times you would delete them, they would still pop up after rebooting. nodCRAP could not disinfect the files, it just deleted them. That was pretty nasty. Couldn’t get rid of the threats! Cmd didn’t help much either – I guess they were stuck in the Recycler or something. Now, what I advised the owner of the affected machine was to run other AV solutions… however, none of the free ones seemed to do better than nodCRAP, fact which was to be expected. Then she asked me what else could she buy, so I advised her to get Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0. The minute it had been installed it asked for an update and a full system scan. It took Kaspersky about 2 hours to scan a 70% full 160GB hard drive, but it found 8 threats and eliminated them all. I then rebooted the machine and scanned the folders where the viruses had been discovered – now it was all clean. So, based on this experience, I would definitely go with Kaspersky, rather than nodCRAP.

To us users, it’s these things that count. It doesn’t matter what tests and magazines say – when you’re facing a threat and your AV doesn’t help you enough, then you deem it useless. Users don't care what other threats it may destroy – they want to get rid of the ones THEY'RE facing! Furthermore, after this happening, I definitely became a Kaspersky fan. I, for one, don’t care how much resource it will eat up – at least I will stay protected. What’s the use of having security software that will not "stress" your machine, if it’s also ineffective against viruses?"

KASPERSKY ANTI-VIRUS 7.0's PROACTIVE PROTECTION ACHIEVES THE HIGHEST CERTIFICATION IN THE LATEST AV-COMPARATIVES TESTS

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 has demonstrated the highest level of reliability and effectiveness of its proactive protection system in a series of tests conducted by AV-Comparatives.org, a respected Austrian antivirus lab. Based on the results, Kaspersky Anti-Virus was awarded the highest certification: Advanced+.

“New malicious programs and viruses appear every day and it is evident that antivirus database updates, even hourly, are not enough to provide users with reliable protection from possible Internet threats. There is always a time “gap” between the appearance of a new threat and the release of an update. So to provide effective antivirus protection it is important to effectively detect new threats,” says the head of the AV-Comparatives lab Andreas Clementy.

AV-Comparatives conducted a series of tests in order to compare the effectiveness of various antivirus solutions' on-demand detection of malicious programs (by the program scanner). This method makes it possible to estimate the effectiveness of the heuristic analyzer, one of the components of the proactive protection system. The testing included 17 antivirus products for home users with antivirus databases that were dated August 5, 2007. The sample of malicious programs used in the tests appeared after this date.

Based on the results, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 was awarded the highest certification—Advanced+, which confirms the program has the highest level of detection of new malicious programs with minimal false positives using the antivirus program's heuristic analyzer. It should be noted that only 1 other products tested was awarded this certification.

“Kaspersky Lab developed and introduced a new heuristic analyzer in it's version 7.0 home user products in the summer of this year. In June 2007 this new module first participated in AV-Comparatives' testing and immediately received the Advanced+ certificate,” says Deputy Director of the Innovation Technologies Nikolay Grebennikov. “This is a long-awaited and very significant assessment of Kaspersky Lab’s work.”

The heuristic analyzer is only one of the components of the proactive protection module included in Kaspersky Lab products. Contrary to most competitors’ products, Kaspersky Lab products provide additional protection: a behavior blocker, which blocks the activity of malicious programs based on their behavior. The effectiveness of this module was also tested by AV-Comparatives in June 2007, with the test developers commenting: “The results of the tests performed with the randomly chosen malicious programs have confirmed the highest protection level and the effectiveness of the behavior blocker, which is awarded the Proactive Protection Award of the AV-Comparatives test laboratory.”
