Are you talking about aurex´s post? I downloaded ESS and the fix works fine. Just follow the instructions. Ignore the user name and the password - no need for that.

Still can't update.They always ask USERNAME and PASSWORD.And i try installed it 5 times.

Getting updates without installing any FiX, the simplest way:

First, you need to activate the Advanced mode option:

Use the Edit button to add a server to the list then select it.

All servers begin with u + a number starting at 20 + eset.com and have the termination /eset_eval/ fro the trial servers that don't need usernames and passwords and /eset_upd/ for the commercial servers. In the 3rd pic there is a ready made server address so you get the idea.

There is also a failsafe server called http://update.eset.com/eset_eval/, add it too to the list in case the servers get crowded.

I have only tested this with EAV commercial version!

just install eav or ess,without user name and pass, don't reboot, run the fix,restart go to advanced settings, to update and press on choose server, and choose one of many servers,than update,if don't work try with other server!!

I downloaded both fixes from eSnips and the taskkill.bat in both didnt kill the process. It just kept running in a dos window.

The fix is making sure the downloads for your updates is coming from the proper dl servers, such as => u28.eset.com/eset_eval. This is how the patch works. Right, I did figure that the FiX worked that way, i.e., as the previous patches basically. However, when I go to setup -> update, there's still a user name and a password in each box which is a bit since the FiX was supposed to bypass them. Any ideas?

It reminds me of a service that I noticed today when I started the computer - "obsoletenodlogin.exe" It has to do with old registry files and I ran it from the Eset folder but nothing really happened though except for a tray icon showing up saying something like "loading 30%, 50%, 80%, 90%," etc. Perhaps it removed old files from the registry, I don't know.

That's it! If you disable it the login boxes will stay empty.

The NFIX didn't work. Actually made my Vista blue screen until Startup Repair did its thing... But, once back into Windows, selecting any of the eval servers returns a "File not found on server" error.

I guess the wait is on.

I think the problem of the NSANE FIX is that it works on the trial version only. Download the trial version from

Uninstall your current version then install the trial version as instructed then apply the fix.
I also had problems with the FIX, but now it worked for me.

Hey guys..I am able to update my NOD32 after doing these steps....i just simply did the below steps...and voila...it's updating now!!!! Check it out!!!!

-Install eav_nt32_enu
-While installation, select "Select Update Parameters later"
-Do Not restart after finishing instalation
-Go to the Fix Folder
-Run(or Run as Admin in Vista) TaskKill.exe
-Install ESET.FiX.v3.0
-Restart PC
-Go to the Fix folder again
-Run TaskKill again
-Go to C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus
-Run(or Run as Admin in Vista) nlv3mod.exe
-Nothing wont come so dont panic
-Run(or Run as Admin in Vista) Obsoletenodlogin.exe
-An icon will appear in the taskbar
-Wait until it connects
-Later a notification will appear which will show that a licence has been added to NOD32
-Run NOD32 Antivirus and update

@VishBoy (and dudes who use the "Obsoletenodlogin" FiX
-> Be aware than:
1) It's put itself in NOD32 ignore list, so NOD32 dun scan it (suspicious uhn?)
2) it's connects to some address (some like f.aspmail.net, but its not that). Why? maybe it's dl something, maybe it's an spammer program =)

I use WinXP Pro SP2 and have done exactly what you said and Nod32 AV v.3.0.563 trial was updated.
TaskKill.exe is situated on C:\Windows\System 32 (easy to find using "Start - SEARCH ".
Is true, a key was added to NOD32 AV.
How long does the key works? 30 days maybe or maybe not,maybe more (who knows?)...

open the window
- make sure you are using a blank user and password.
- switch display to advanced mode
- select SETUP -> Enter entire advanced setup tree -> Update Tab
- under Update Server click on Edit and add the servers from the reg file manually

You can pick a few and reboot when you are done.

"Eset's nodCRAP has long been our favorite anti-virus program at NeoSmart Technologies.
In recent years (mainly from last year though), nodCRAP has fallen WAY BEHIND in the detection rankings, but for the most part had remained a decent choice. Virus.gr has the latest testing results as summed up in this post at CyberNet News. In the latest round of tests (and the one before that, and the one before that) Kaspersky is yet again at the top, with a 99.23% detection rate for the newly-released version 7 and a 99.13% for version 6...

..But all changed with the release of Kaspersky 7. In a test run, we found 3 different trojans on our machines (for a total of 6 infected files) that nodCRAP hadn't detected (even with heuristics enabled and set to the highest level) which Kaspersky picked up immediately.
The real kicker wasn't the fact that nodCRAP missed a trojan, it was the fact that 2 of these trojans have been listed in the Kaspersky virus signature database since mid-2006, and that when reporting such missed trojans the nodCRAP team replies in a mostly arrogant manner.
Looking at this thread where a nodCRAP user reported to their tech support that several common trojans ((One of which was found in our test run here at NeoSmart Technologies)) weren't picked up by nodCRAP but were by Kasperksy, the replies by nodCRAP moderators are quite shocking. They start off by claiming that the original poster's title is misleading purposely accusatory (which it isn't, objectively speaking) and this later escalates (when a new poster claims to have a list of 21 trojans nodCRAP failed to detect) into accusations of virus-harvesting and purposely looking for nodCRAP's weaknesses..

..What should have been a simple "thank you for your observations and our apologies for the inconvenience" became a highly-ridiculous "nodCRAP can do no wrong" thread. We've been recommending nodCRAP since the start, but to us it is clear that this is where we part paths. If a company makes a mistake an oversight of a single trojan, that we can live with. But when moderators on their forum insist on turning it into a personal attack against anyone that has any issues with nodCRAP, it's sign that something very wrong is underfoot.
So, goodbye nodCRAP, you've served us average throughout the years (as previous threads and articles will testify). But it's time for a new AV that continues to improve and without taking offense to simple mistakes. Unfortunately, pride and failure often to lead to one and the same thing - and if there's a better alternative, we'd be fools not to take it."

Why Kaspersky IS Better Than nodCRAP - Here’s another reason!

"You can’t always tell which is the best anti-virus for your machine, as all the vendors will claim they deliver top-notch solutions, that they are leaders on the market and all that. Also, you often get facts stating that in some test a certain anti-virus ranked first, but they rarely state what competition they had. In any case, in view of recent events, Kaspersky beats the crap out of nodCRAP; and I will give you some facts and explain why it is so.

A computer with nodCRAP and Windows XP SP2 had been infected by several Trojans. The AV found two of them and no matter how many times you would delete them, they would still pop up after rebooting. nodCRAP could not disinfect the files, it just deleted them. That was pretty nasty. Couldn’t get rid of the threats! Cmd didn’t help much either – I guess they were stuck in the Recycler or something. Now, what I advised the owner of the affected machine was to run other AV solutions… however, none of the free ones seemed to do better than nodCRAP, fact which was to be expected. Then she asked me what else could she buy, so I advised her to get Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0. The minute it had been installed it asked for an update and a full system scan. It took Kaspersky about 2 hours to scan a 70% full 160GB hard drive, but it found 8 threats and eliminated them all. I then rebooted the machine and scanned the folders where the viruses had been discovered – now it was all clean. So, based on this experience, I would definitely go with Kaspersky, rather than nodCRAP.

To us users, it’s these things that count. It doesn’t matter what tests and magazines say – when you’re facing a threat and your AV doesn’t help you enough, then you deem it useless. Users don't care what other threats it may destroy – they want to get rid of the ones THEY'RE facing! Furthermore, after this happening, I definitely became a Kaspersky fan. I, for one, don’t care how much resource it will eat up – at least I will stay protected. What’s the use of having security software that will not "stress" your machine, if it’s also ineffective against viruses?"

The heuristic analyzer is only one of the components of the proactive protection module included in Kaspersky Lab products.
