ESET NOD32 v2.51.30 For WinNT/2000/2003/XP
Posted by Anonymous 1219 Day ago, There are 121 comments, 138375 views
NOD32 is a single, highly optimized engine that works as a unified anti-threat system to protect against a broad spectrum of malware. Viruses, worms, spyware, and other malicious attacks, which are constantly evolving. Eset NOD32 utilizes patent-pending ThreatSense? Technology to detect tomorrow's threats in real-time, by analyzing code execution for malicious intent - keeping you ahead of the malware-writers.

Released By BRD.
Proactive Real-Time Detection
The best security is proactive. Malware protection must be real-time at the point of impact. Every minute one waits for a virus signature update creates a window of vulnerability that could have devastating consequences. Eset NOD32's ThreatSense? Technology closes the window of vulnerability left open by other reactive, signature-based antivirus vendors.

NOD32 analyzes application execution in real-time for malicious intent to detect and block over 90% of new malware threats proactively, without the need for signature updates in most cases. Most other vendors release signatures hours after their customers have been victimized and submitted samples. av-comparatives.org.

Integrated Protection
Viruses, worms, adware, and spyware can and should be detected by a single engine. A well-designed, integrated application like Eset NOD32 can detect adware, spyware, viruses, rootkits, and other malicous attacks. Running separate applications for viruses, hackers, adware, and spyware can slow your PC, be difficult to manage, and provide questionable protection. Beware of large, bloated internet security suites that consume hundreds of megabytes on your PC. These typically exist because vendors have acquired products and 'bundled' them together. In contrast, Eset NOD32 was designed from the core as a single, highly-optimized engine to stop malware.

Protection against threats from multiple input vectors is provided by the following modules: Antivirus MONitor (AMON) An on-access (memory-resident) scanner, which automatically scans files before they're accessed.

NOD32
An on-demand scanner, which can be run manually on specific files or disk segments. It can also be scheduled to run during off-peak times.
Internet MONitor (IMON)
A memory-resident scanner that runs on the Winsock level to prevent infected files from reaching the computer's disks. Its scans internet web browsing traffic (HTTP) and incoming e-mail via the POP3 protocol.
E-mail MONitor (EMON)
An auxiliary module for scanning incoming/outgoing e-mails via the MAPI interface, such as Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Exchange.
Document MONitor (DMON)
Utilizes the proprietary Microsoft API for scanning Microsoft Office documents (including Internet Explorer).
Fast Performance
Great detection doesn't have to slow down your computer. Written largely in assembly language, NOD32 continually wins awards for the fastest performance of any antivirus application, on average 2 to 5 times faster than the competition (source: Virus Bulletin). Switch to NOD32 and upgrade your computer's performance.
Smallest Footprint
NOD32 conserves resources on disk and in memory, leaving more for your critical applications. The installer is just 8.6 MB and the application takes up less than 20 MB in memory (this fluctuates with changes to the detection technology). ThreatSense updates, which includes heuristics logic and signatures, are usually between 20 kB and 50 kB. Switch to NOD32 and reclaim precious resources.
Easy to Manage
Program and database updates are automaticaly performed behind the scenes. If you're an individual or home office user you can just 'set it and forget it.' Businesses and organizations with large distributed networks can use the powerful Remote Administrator to centrally deploy, install, monitor and manage thousands of NOD32 workstations and servers.
Get the best protection with the smallest footprint and fastest performance. NOD32 offers multiple layers of protection for your organization, at the desktop, file server and mail gateway. Find out which solution is best for you.

Thanks for the swift replies all!
This may sound a little dumb, so I appologise in advance, but, am I missing out on anything using the 45,797yr trial over the Full version? I'm guessing not as the trial still gets the definitions. Maybe i'm missing something here . . . sorry!
Re: ESET NOD32 v2.51.30 For WinNT/2000/2003/XP by 6uldmn on 2006-08-07 04:27:23
As far as I know, the only difference is the update servers you are directed to, for updates. After upgrading to the full version, the program will add some new default servers to the "server" list. When the program causes a reversion to trial, the new default servers stay in the list. :-)

In the Admin version you do get a mirror button under "update", but as long as it updates, what's the difference.

2. Anyone help with my error message "Error occurred while scanning MBR sector of the 2. physical disk. Error reading sector."

Re: ESET NOD32 v2.51.30 For WinNT/2000/2003/XP by RE-CON on 2006-08-07 17:22:24
It can be very wrong but in the moment when the people install an antivirus new the same existand on will not monitor. the trick with wininit and co when windows reboot to inject systemfiles in the time before any antivirus is startet cause windows isnt start up by booting.
3. Install NOD32 FiX v2.1 exe and follow instructions

4. Go to the installation folder of NOD32, usually C:\Program Files\Eset, you will see nod32fix.reg (It's a registry entry for NOD32). Click nod32fix.reg. It will ask you whether u wanna add the entry, just click on yes then click on OK.

Says my allerts that nodfix alials freeme does patch winlogon. Is winlogon needed to be patched to get the av registered cause its self will after injection not check that winlogon inizialization is not more the same as it should be or we are in touch with it?
Re: ESET NOD32 v2.51.30 For WinNT/2000/2003/XP by RE-CON on 2006-08-07 17:29:33
fellowed friends be carefull i have a bad feeling if winlogon and wininit or any startup mods come in progress by a patch. Better download only from the topic top the original download from 9down and thanks with a bannerclick.
Re: ESET NOD32 v2.51.30 For WinNT/2000/2003/XP by RE-CON on 2006-08-07 18:51:57
And will you tell us James Dean witch marketting company have a use from the winuserlogon injection with this spyware when the av is patched and do not more allert it?
I dont thing that by the versions before patch NOD32 FiX v2.1 alias freeme was really done it. otherwise the patch will be in the release on top not only here somehow in the comments to be published. Your input is recommended to explain what the freeme nod fix do if other systems monitor it does changes in winlogon user initialization. We all have the button to make it undo. Just the reg file is not in the place as it should. Whats next wininit entry maybe? Greatings from Taiwan.

RE-CON , in a sentence or two , are you saying his .reg file is laiden with spyware?
Re: ESET NOD32 v2.51.30 For WinNT/2000/2003/XP by RE-CON on 2006-08-07 19:20:52
no freeme.exe dont u see when u execute alias NOD32 FiX v2.x what it doeas. I dont think that winlogon progress system files userlogon needs to be patched for the av. when u have allready done the step until the reg file is in the directory its allready patched. Hope u have a backup.
Re: ESET NOD32 v2.51.30 For WinNT/2000/2003/XP by RE-CON on 2006-08-07 19:26:21
i didnt trace it now so a detail log i do not have it neez to unpe the nodfix alias freeme and inspect it.
Spyware check:
15:32:54 Winlogon-Userinit Isolieren Systemobjekt
15:32:47 Winlogon-Userinit Objekte gefunden Systemobjekt
15:32:47 Winlogon-Userinit Objekte gefunden Systemobjekt
15:22:31 Winlogon-Userinit Isolieren Systemobjekt
15:22:10 Winlogon-Userinit Objekte gefunden Systemobjekt
Why freeme.exe alias nod32 fix does that? I do not understand what Winlogon-Userlogon have to do to need to be patched.
Re: ESET NOD32 v2.51.30 For WinNT/2000/2003/XP by RE-CON on 2006-08-07 19:39:22
even if the allert of spyware is wrong on all other protections why then freeme.exe alial nodfix touch winlogon prozess? This facts are clear as soon executing and apply the freeme.exe = nod32 fix. Not my business at all. BRD patch work and is save and do not any "unwantet" activities.

Re: ESET NOD32 v2.51.30 For WinNT/2000/2003/XP by 6uldmn on 2006-08-08 02:04:38
NOD32 is better than Kaspersky.

Kaspersky scans faster has hourly updates and is a more complete product, but NOD32 has a better scanning engine/system and uses less system resources.
Re: ESET NOD32 v2.51.30 For WinNT/2000/2003/XP by Angelico_Payne on 2006-08-08 08:12:51
Kaspersky was good, than They crapped it up, and I moved to Nod32, they say they fixed Kaspersky in ver 6, I say ok, but I'll tryit when final version comes out, not crappy beta, anyway, Avast is also good
Re: ESET NOD32 v2.51.30 For WinNT/2000/2003/XP by 6uldmn on 2006-08-08 09:54:14
I used both kaspersky and NOD32 for over a year, Kaspersky scans faster and updates more. NOD32 often found things that Kaspersky did not and uses less system resources. The one thing NOD32 could use is a firewall or internet suite.

Kaspersky?

If you have not found out already,
It uses so much resources, that it will eventually
"CRASH" your system!!!
But, is it good?
YES!
Re: ESET NOD32 v2.51.30 For WinNT/2000/2003/XP by 6uldmn on 2006-08-10 01:04:41
All of the patches you listed work NOD32 FiX v2.1, nod32fix_V2.2, nod32fix_V2.3 and the BRD four patches. I have been using the BRD four patches for a few days now and this patch version seems to be the least problematic.

Although unnecessary, I was able to upgrade to full version using a User Name and Password and so far the Password has not been blacklisted. I don’t know if that has anything to do with the BRD patches, but when using the other patches, the program would reset to “Trial” (with 45,000 years until expiration) upon each Virus Definitions Update.

Reading the post from gag, nine back, I used the backup file to remove the nod32krn.exe patch(#4). After removing this patch, the program reverted to a thirty day trial. The BRD patch # 4 is more than likely needed for the proper patching of NOD32. Perhaps, the program needs to be completely reinstalled to do this, but I am frankly tired of messing with NOD32.

The BRD patches are not just "cut and paste" patches. Each patch must be double clicked, or opened and then applied. If you did that, the BRD patches may not work with the Portuguese Version.

lack of firewall can be considered a drawback but the heuristic system in NOD32 is one of the best according to the survey . even though virus defination updates keep on coming at almost a daily basis, the heuristic system alone can block out any malicious software thats about to act up, making it valuable antivirus even when its not completly patched up to existing standards. One feature that most advanced users enjoy is its advanced tweaking capablities. how ever casual urers may turn it off. and even while playing games there isnt pin drop in system resourse

the perfect computer for Kaspersky to run on:

Pentium 4, overclocked to 4.0Ghz
2 GB RAM
20 (yes twenty) GB hard drive
liquid cooling to keep it all stable

see, with that processor speed and that much RAM, your computer would actually be able to handle KAV without slowing down. and with a hard drive that small, you might not even fall asleep waiting for KAV to stop scanning!

Runnungfool, s7en and others:You people really dosent know much about NOD and KAV/KIS eh??
NOD 32 is a GREAT AV,but it dosent hold a candle against KAV and KIS 6.
Let me tell you why.Kaspersky 6 have a lil thing, calleed the proactive module. That include something called a registerguard and actitivityanalyzer,so when some dirty little shit spy or virus thing try to enter your machine,KAV and KIS hit the brakes, and ask you with a pop up "is this okay with you"?!NOD is NOT capabale of doing that,ok?
Please stop the BS that NOD is better than KAV/KIS 6.NOD is a really great AV,that dosent use much resourses, but to compare it with Kaspersky 6 is like comparing apples and oranges.
End of story!Kaspesky 6 IS the best protection at the moment. Its a fact.
Thanks 9 down, you are the best.

If anyone is having trouble getting NOD32, Find me and I can get you to it.

I have trouble of ur retarded brain u moron

Ok..

perfectdumb, boromeo. Both are children who somehow decided that the world must be protected with their NODCRAP and nothing else. And when people disagree with them they go totaly jihad nuts.

Either they trive on attention or the ridilin ain't working. NODCRAP is really an useless and dangeorus crap of which everyone should stay away from.

Just forget about them and eventualy they'll leave 9down and this place will get back to being a good thing. Instead of what it has become since they came around.

To the moderators.

Please review the postings that have been made by those childre PD1447(perfectdumb) and boromeo. I belive the time has come.

Removal permanently from 9down is your only alternative.

People are leaving because of these two as*h*les

How long since theres been a new topic posted here?

Its time to take out the TRASH, flush the toilet whatever you want to call it, but it has reached the rediculous point now.

BAN THEM NOW!

Goodbye nodCRAP; Hello Kaspersky!!!

Published July 12th, 2007 in Corporate Talk

"Eset's nodCRAP has long been our favorite anti-virus program at NeoSmart Technologies.
In recent years (mainly from last year though), nodCRAP has fallen WAY BEHIND in the detection rankings, but for the most part had remained a decent choice. Virus.gr has the latest testing results as summed up in this post at CyberNet News. In the latest round of tests (and the one before that, and the one before that) Kaspersky is yet again at the top, with a 99.23% detection rate for the newly-released version 7 and a 99.13% for version 6. But all changed with the release of Kaspersky 7. In a test run, we found 3 different trojans on our machines (for a total of 6 infected files) that nodCRAP hadn't detected (even with heuristics enabled and set to the highest level) which Kaspersky picked up immediately.
The real kicker wasn't the fact that nodCRAP missed a trojan, it was the fact that 2 of these trojans have been listed in the Kaspersky virus signature database since mid-2006, and that when reporting such missed trojans the nodCRAP team replies in a mostly arrogant manner.
Looking at this thread where a nodCRAP user reported to their tech support that several common trojans ((One of which was found in our test run here at NeoSmart Technologies)) weren't picked up by nodCRAP but were by Kasperksy, the replies by nodCRAP moderators are quite shocking. They start off by claiming that the original poster's title is misleading purposely accusatory (which it isn't, objectively speaking) and this later escalates (when a new poster claims to have a list of 21 trojans nodCRAP failed to detect) into accusations of virus-harvesting and purposely looking for nodCRAP's weaknesses.
What should have been a simple "thank you for your observations and our apologies for the inconvenience" became a highly-ridiculous "nodCRAP can do no wrong" thread. We've been recommending nodCRAP since the start, but to us it is clear that this is where we part paths. If a company makes a mistake an oversight of a single trojan, that we can live with. But when moderators on their forum insist on turning it into a personal attack against anyone that has any issues with nodCRAP, it's sign that something very wrong is underfoot.
So, goodbye nodCRAP, you've served us average throughout the years (as previous threads and articles will testify). But it's time for a new AV that continues to improve and without taking offense to simple mistakes. Unfortunately, pride and failure often to lead to one and the same thing - and if there's a better alternative, we'd be fools not to take it."

Why Kaspersky IS Better Than nodCRAP - Here’s another reason!

By: Alexander Dimitru, Security Expert

"You can’t always tell which is the best anti-virus for your machine, as all the vendors will claim they deliver top-notch solutions, that they are leaders on the market and all that. Also, you often get facts stating that in some test a certain anti-virus ranked first, but they rarely state what competition they had. In any case, in view of recent events, Kaspersky beats the crap out of nodCRAP; and I will give you some facts and explain why it is so.

A computer with nodCRAP and Windows XP SP2 had been infected by several Trojans. The AV found two of them and no matter how many times you would delete them, they would still pop up after rebooting. nodCRAP could not disinfect the files, it just deleted them. That was pretty nasty. Couldn’t get rid of the threats! Cmd didn’t help much either – I guess they were stuck in the Recycler or something. Now, what I advised the owner of the affected machine was to run other AV solutions… however, none of the free ones seemed to do better than nodCRAP, fact which was to be expected. Then she asked me what else could she buy, so I advised her to get Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0. The minute it had been installed it asked for an update and a full system scan. It took Kaspersky about 2 hours to scan a 70% full 160GB hard drive, but it found 8 threats and eliminated them all. I then rebooted the machine and scanned the folders where the viruses had been discovered – now it was all clean. So, based on this experience, I would definitely go with Kaspersky, rather than nodCRAP.

To us users, it’s these things that count. It doesn’t matter what tests and magazines say – when you’re facing a threat and your AV doesn’t help you enough, then you deem it useless. Users don't care what other threats it may destroy – they want to get rid of the ones THEY'RE facing! Furthermore, after this happening, I definitely became a Kaspersky fan. I, for one, don’t care how much resource it will eat up – at least I will stay protected. What’s the use of having security software that will not "stress" your machine, if it’s also ineffective against viruses?"
