ESET Smart Security 3.0.551.0 Final (32-Bit / 64-Bit)
Posted by AlexMagik 610 Day ago, There are 50 comments, 95676 views

ESET Smart Security is a fully integrated security solution and includes antivirus, anti-spyware, a personal firewall and antispam. While some competitive solutions purport to have similar functionality, ESET has developed a unique approach that provides true and full integration of point security solutions. The key advantage of this approach is that individual protection modules are able to communicate together seamlessly, to create unparalleled synergy to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of protection. Moreover, the integrated architecture guarantees optimal utilization of system resources, so ESET Smart Security continues ESET’s well know reputation for providing rock solid security in a small footprint that will not slow down an individual’s computer.

Unique to ESET Smart Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus V3.0:
• Hands-on service – All ESET customers receive the same level of excellent technical support service, whether an individual computer user or an SMB.
• Ease of installation – ESET Smart Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus V3.0 scanning engines are quick and easy to install, no matter what solution is currently running.
• Advanced threat protection network – ESET solutions are backed by ThreatSense.Net, a global early warning system built into the products. ThreatSense.Net extends the power of ThreatSense’s powerful analytics by automatically submitting samples of and information about new malware to ESET researchers for analysis, thus helping to close the window of vulnerability opened by new threats.

ESET Smart Security is based on three basic pillars:

>> ESET NOD32 Antivirus + Antispyware
· This component is in fact an improved version of the award-winning scanning engine of NOD32 Antivirus v2.7. With respect to program's unprecedented scanning speed, the following improvements have been made:
· Improved system of cleaning and deleting infiltrations. The antivirus system now intelligently cleans and deletes infiltrations with no need for user interaction.
· Computer scan can be run in background in order to use only a part of system resources. Thus scanning will not affect the
performance of your computer and you will be able to work on it as usual.
· The resident protection supports archive scanning.
· Update optimization, smaller update package size than in version 2.7, more effective management and protection of update files against damage.
· Email protection for users of Outlook Express.

>> ESET Personal Firewall
· Firewall monitors all traffic between a protected computer and other computers in the local network and in the Internet. High quality protection is provided by the following functions:
· Scanning of application protocols HTTP and POP3 (used for Internet browsing and for retrieving email from servers) for infiltrations.
· Checking low-level network communication which helps to avoid many of various remote attacks.
· Ability to recognize the character of network connections established by various types of infiltrations and ability to automatically terminate them.
· Filtering of incoming and outgoing communication based on user defined rules.
· Monitoring changes in executable files.
· Interactive and automatic mode. The former enables you to create your own filtering rules, the latter filters all communication automatically.

>> ESET Anti Spam
· ESET Anti Spam serves to filter unsolicited email, which makes your work with email more effective. The key features of the ESET Anti Spam are:
· Support for the RCF email format
· Supports several scanning techniques including the combination of Bayesian filter, virus signatures and user defined rules.
· Supports the creation of Blacklist and Whitelist.
· Integration with the Microsoft Outlook messaging and collaboration client.
· Ability to control multiple messages simultaneously.

I have it installed and used a key.Forget the patch - doesn`t work.
It updates but I think only until 5th November, cause these must be beta keys and soon they will be all back-listed.
Have done a full scan - very fast.
Even not having problems,I dont believe this is the genuine Eset anti-virus.
Why should they change the icon that is near watch? I think there was some modification by strange hands...

Here I am again just to say :
The best way (1st.time I uninstalled Nod32v.2.70.39) is to install Eset Smart Security over Nod32 2.70.39.The program automatically cleans Nod32).This way it updates.Later you must uninstall the Fix 2.2 you used for nod32 (not needed).
The problem : May be tomorrow the key won`t work...We shall see...(I`ll give you news tomorrow).

well ive installed it, come backl to the site to see a load of pop ups and banners which i never saw with Kaspersky 7.
i have Vista, whats the best way to stop the ads and banners, any recommended programs???
RE : by Fox-htv on 2007-11-02 05:33:50
@ Jasjeet
Don't know why you would switch from a great suite like KIS, but anyway, if you're using firefox, NoScript a great add-on that disables the Java most adds use. Also u can also choose which sites to allow to run their code.
RE:ESET Smart Security 3.0.551.0 Final (32-Bit / 64-Bit) by jofre on 2007-11-02 02:58:13
I have WinXP Prof. and Firefox.
Pop-ups disappeared with Firefox Add-on "ADD-BLOCK PLUS "
RE:ESET Smart Security 3.0.551.0 Final (32-Bit / 64-Bit) by NOD32King on 2007-11-02 03:46:34
all suites are for newbs.
u get best security by mixing up.
sure it more difficult to avoid conflict, but when successful u have the best security.
use nod32 av with a firewall like comodo, jetico, outpost or zonealarm, and back that up with anti-spyware like super antispyware.
as for blocking ad and popup, ads and pop-ups ARE NOT NECESSARILY SECURITY risk, they are mostly just annoyance, so don't complain if your security suite miss an ad or popup.
use an anti-adware prog for that, or install a privacy proxy server like Privoxy.

NOD32King is the Emperer !!!, together with Salmonella (where are you ?). I'm glad that the spe***t is back ! And lets all ban Outsider.

I'm sticking with Avast, Outpost 4 (conflict with Avast in Outpost 6), Spyware Doctor for now.

I almost switched to a suite.

RE:ESET Smart Security 3.0.551.0 Final (32-Bit / 64-Bit) by Jasjeet on 2007-11-03 05:32:34
well i tried it for a few days after switching from kaspersky.
On the first scan after updating it foun 0 viruses, relieved i thought kaspersky had done its job.
Well the problems for an average user not to concerned if one AV can find .5% more than another, was that there pop up blocker and banner blockers were flawed.
Also the worst problem which made me swith back to Kaspersky was that Nod32 Security Suite did not allows me to share media with my Xbox 360, i checked the Nod32 forums and othere were having the smae problem with no solutions.
from these problems i switched back to Kaspersky for the ease of use. Also an idea for Eset: Can i please save my settings in a file to import and export, i couldnt find the feature- i may not of looked hard but make it easier.

eset nod32 3.0.551.0 still the best...
this smart security is for normal user... who less download...

RE:ESET Smart Security 3.0.551.0 Final (32-Bit / 64-Bit) by cyberloner on 2007-11-06 17:00:46
tested both ver... eset smart secury and eset nod32 ... both do work after 30 days even after 1 year... so they dun need any patch... they only need a valid license to get virus updates
i do love the new eset catch the virus... it catch them before u even download it..and block it..
only complains is the firewall when u mass downloading stuff from torrent or emule...it takes cpu resouces...

Goodbye nodCRAP; Hello Kaspersky!!!

Published July 12th, 2007 in Corporate Talk

"Eset's nodCRAP has long been our favorite anti-virus program at NeoSmart Technologies.
In recent years (mainly from last year though), nodCRAP has fallen WAY BEHIND in the detection rankings, but for the most part had remained a decent choice. Virus.gr has the latest testing results as summed up in this post at CyberNet News. In the latest round of tests (and the one before that, and the one before that) Kaspersky is yet again at the top, with a 99.23% detection rate for the newly-released version 7 and a 99.13% for version 6. But all changed with the release of Kaspersky 7. In a test run, we found 3 different trojans on our machines (for a total of 6 infected files) that nodCRAP hadn't detected (even with heuristics enabled and set to the highest level) which Kaspersky picked up immediately.
The real kicker wasn't the fact that nodCRAP missed a trojan, it was the fact that 2 of these trojans have been listed in the Kaspersky virus signature database since mid-2006, and that when reporting such missed trojans the nodCRAP team replies in a mostly arrogant manner.
Looking at this thread where a nodCRAP user reported to their tech support that several common trojans ((One of which was found in our test run here at NeoSmart Technologies)) weren't picked up by nodCRAP but were by Kasperksy, the replies by nodCRAP moderators are quite shocking. They start off by claiming that the original poster's title is misleading purposely accusatory (which it isn't, objectively speaking) and this later escalates (when a new poster claims to have a list of 21 trojans nodCRAP failed to detect) into accusations of virus-harvesting and purposely looking for nodCRAP's weaknesses.
What should have been a simple "thank you for your observations and our apologies for the inconvenience" became a highly-ridiculous "nodCRAP can do no wrong" thread. We've been recommending nodCRAP since the start, but to us it is clear that this is where we part paths. If a company makes a mistake an oversight of a single trojan, that we can live with. But when moderators on their forum insist on turning it into a personal attack against anyone that has any issues with nodCRAP, it's sign that something very wrong is underfoot.
So, goodbye nodCRAP, you've served us average throughout the years (as previous threads and articles will testify). But it's time for a new AV that continues to improve and without taking offense to simple mistakes. Unfortunately, pride and failure often to lead to one and the same thing - and if there's a better alternative, we'd be fools not to take it."

Why Kaspersky IS Better Than nodCRAP - Here’s another reason!

By: Alexander Dimitru, Security Expert

"You can’t always tell which is the best anti-virus for your machine, as all the vendors will claim they deliver top-notch solutions, that they are leaders on the market and all that. Also, you often get facts stating that in some test a certain anti-virus ranked first, but they rarely state what competition they had. In any case, in view of recent events, Kaspersky beats the crap out of nodCRAP; and I will give you some facts and explain why it is so.

A computer with nodCRAP and Windows XP SP2 had been infected by several Trojans. The AV found two of them and no matter how many times you would delete them, they would still pop up after rebooting. nodCRAP could not disinfect the files, it just deleted them. That was pretty nasty. Couldn’t get rid of the threats! Cmd didn’t help much either – I guess they were stuck in the Recycler or something. Now, what I advised the owner of the affected machine was to run other AV solutions… however, none of the free ones seemed to do better than nodCRAP, fact which was to be expected. Then she asked me what else could she buy, so I advised her to get Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0. The minute it had been installed it asked for an update and a full system scan. It took Kaspersky about 2 hours to scan a 70% full 160GB hard drive, but it found 8 threats and eliminated them all. I then rebooted the machine and scanned the folders where the viruses had been discovered – now it was all clean. So, based on this experience, I would definitely go with Kaspersky, rather than nodCRAP.

To us users, it’s these things that count. It doesn’t matter what tests and magazines say – when you’re facing a threat and your AV doesn’t help you enough, then you deem it useless. Users don't care what other threats it may destroy – they want to get rid of the ones THEY'RE facing! Furthermore, after this happening, I definitely became a Kaspersky fan. I, for one, don’t care how much resource it will eat up – at least I will stay protected. What’s the use of having security software that will not "stress" your machine, if it’s also ineffective against viruses?"
