Video codec identification utility - identifies which video codec and audio compression method is used on .avi files, whether the matching codec is installed, and more. New Advanced Features
  • Displays audio/video "interleave" value in frames and milliseconds. Displays audio "preload" as well. "IMRR" (Interleaved Media Rate Ratio) displays ratio of seconds of audio to seconds of video per interleave, so that files with values not equal to 1.00 can be quickly identified (MP3 only, CBR or VBR. AC3 support for these features coming soon.)
  • Identifies nine formats of MPEG sound streams. e.g. MPEG-1 Layer 3 or MPEG-1 Layer 2 or MPEG-2 Layer 3. etc. These streams may be either inside an AVI or stand-alone files. Also shows "CBR" or "VBR" for each format, and bitrate where possible.
  • Displays AVI file structure information, such as whether the file format is OpenDML format, whether it uses "rec lists", or whether it is a Virtual Dub segmented file. For OpenDML, the extended "multi-RIFF" format is supported, allowing for files beyond the 1 / 2 / 4 GB limit.
  • Added support for multiple audio streams (up to three). Also added display of channels of audio per stream and average bitrate per channel.
  • Identifies MP3 (or any other file) when "wrapped" in a WAV file, showing the details for the actual file within. Can also identify CDXA "wrapped" .mpg files.
  • Identifies "cooked" files of any format. These are files that have been corrupted somewhere along the line by downloading from a misconfigured server which treated the file as text.
