Google Talk is a lightweight Jabber-based instant messaging client with voice capabilities. Google Talk is easy and intuitive to use. All you need to make free calls is an Internet connection, a microphone, and a speaker. After you download Google Talk, sign in with your Gmail username and password. Invite your friends to download Google Talk, and once they do, you'll be able to talk or IM with them instantly.
Google Talk currently does not encrypt chats or calls. When you use Google Talk, you can choose to have your IM chats stored locally on your own computer so that you have a chat history. Google does not collect the content of instant message chats or voice conversations.
Once you download Google Talk, just sign in with your Gmail username and password. You can then begin inviting anyone you want to talk to for free. Google Talk lets you email your contacts directly using Gmail and you can even receive new Gmail message notifications.
Google Talk works with any computer speaker and microphone, such as the ones built-in to many PC laptops today, as well as with wired and wireless headsets and USB phones. Google Talk also works across all firewalls.
Google Talk is still in beta. Just like with Gmail, we're working hard to add features and make improvements, so we might also ask for your comments and suggestions periodically. We appreciate your help in making it even better!

that program resembles MSN Messenger Interface. Its almost Identical.

Seems Fine,Nice & Clean to me.... ^_^ This would be my 2nd option after Yahoo Messenger for now. So much improvement can be made on GoogleTalk, "It's better than what you think!!" ^o^
Msn Messenger?? it's just plain BORING.. -_-

ok yes, googletalk luks great and simple to use, BUT, it reminds me of windows messenger.
plus the reality of havin people from msn, who don't have a gmail email account moving to googletalk is remote. they realeased it a bit too late and shuld allow people with other email accounts to log in tobe a big time player.
I will only use it to talk. it seems to work at low b/w really well.
I think we have to wait about one year to see google talk a popular messenger
Also Google should open the way to register in gmail and remove beta word from it

I LOVE IT!!!
Too bad that only a few people don't have it...
Anyway now i provide invites to all the people i know and encourage
them to use gmail instead of MSN Messenger! (I have like 150 invites :p)
Spread the word and i wish one day everyone will have a gmail account and use Google Talk!!!
Have GMAIL invites lying around for some time now that i can dispose of.

If I can't send the invites right away it could be because I've been having a hard time opening my Gmail account for some reasons. So, practice some patience okay...
