K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs, DirectShow filters and tools. Codecs and DirectShow filters are needed for encoding and decoding (playing) audio and video formats. Users of these old Operating Systems don't need to worry. There will be future versions of this codec pack that will work on these old versions of Windows. A pack that runs on all versions of Windows will be released every few months or when there are important changes/updates. The previous version of this pack runs perfectly fine on Windows 98/ME/NT4.

good but we don't need all these codecs .this may cause many problems and usually codecs conflict with each other..for example XVID ,Divx and ffdshow all decode the same extensions why we use them all together???it is enough to use only one of them

You don't use it, so you don't care/know. But I & the others do! There's a Difference in Performance & Slight Compatibility. Plus, it's a good Choice for Video Encoders coz it has a wide variety of Codecs to choose.
There WON'T be any conflicts it's you install it WISEly. It's actually simple, throw out other codecs and then Install K-Lite Mega using "Lots of Stuff" Profile. ;)

ok,how u explain that :after installing this codec pack,the image of AVI movies is distorted and there is unsharpening{the outline of borders is not sharp}

Daredevil: maybe you have some other codecs, that where previously installed, that may be conflicting, Or the codec that is used to play the desired files, needs configuring.

I dunno about you, but mine's completely Fine! :\ Not to mention i've been using K-Lite for A long time already.. Maybe sometimes K-Lite ain't suitable for certain hardwares or perhaps another reason? But i'm not backing down from K-lite.
