BitDefender total security is the best for high end pc users with internet.I have used kaspersky and Eset and things were cool because there were no threats for weeks.I doubted it and changed it to BitDefender and it has detected over 6 viruses in my pc which were never detected by eset and kaspersky

Kaspersky, welcome in the bloatware world!
RE:Kaspersky Anti-Virus & Internet Security 8.0.0.314 RC1 by IE7 on 2008-04-02 02:43:46
kaspersky is too intrusive, too bloatware, too aggressive, too useless!
Using Windows with limited privileges is enough, without installing all these useless security suites!

Wow... 3 RC1's >_> a bit disappointed there.

Wonder why there is a 7.0.2 version of kaserpshit when only 7.0.1.325 is shown on site... though I'm using the 702... I'm just wondering.

Hey Guys...

Kaspersky is obviously the king..
many of the AVs detect and remove the virus, but Kaspersky also effectively disinfects them. Eg. W32Virut.
When ur system files are corrupt KIS saves them by disinfects, while others just delete them and ur system never boots again.

Only experts know that KIS is best, coz its the matter of knowing how to use it...

using it as a noob and being familiar with only few features, u shud not comment.
Many of the users dont even know the full features, and if they know then they dont know how to use it for full efficiency.

Its only 2 MB ram consumption on my PC by configuring Proactive defence, and I turn of the Guard, but I am totally protected

@thelostone2
"Its only 2 MB ram consumption on my PC"

Guy, either you are a great liar or a stupid retard.
No way that software can use less memory that NOD32.
NOD32 use less memory, less cpu, less drive space, more compatible, win more awards... I could go on and on.
My subscription for NOD32 runs out next month, but even if I could get this lowly soft for free I would reject it.
I like having my box stable and crash-free and since NOD32 doesn't mess with my system files it is the right choice.

@ NOD32King

thelostone2 is actually correct. Depending on network traffic my total usage of RAM running Kaspersky 7.0.0.125 is between 2mb to 10mb, CPU usage under 1%. When running full system scans RAM usage is about 30mb, CPU usage 50->57% (E6750 Core)

Very low footprint I believe for an Antivirus that does just as well as any other brand.
RE:Kaspersky Anti-Virus & Internet Security 8.0.0.314 RC1 by Peace_Angel on 2008-04-02 22:09:57
AVP shows 4,452k here (kav 7.0.1.325).
I think this has a better footprint than v6.

I actually like this one except that my internet seems a bit slower. I heard good things about version 8 (E.g v8 does not break chkdsk anyore - how much is that true; I dunno. And v8 supposed to have better proactive defence. I suspect not as good as Nod32 though.)

I tried nod32 some time ago, but then reverted back to kav. Nod32 is way faster than kav in scanning - my experience. Anyway I do not do a complete scan every day; Kav suits me.

Despite all these things, I still wanna use Kav simply because I like it very much.

TO ........... NOD32King

I didnt say that KIS is 2 MB
actually u must be mentally ill.
What I meant to say is that out of 16 MB (max.), if u configure the settings in a smart & proper way, u can save 5-6 MB of ram, that u can usually not do by having default setting

eg., keeping file antivirus switched off, and manually scanning new files.
Configuring PAD in such a way that it takes only 2 MB and not 6 MB as default.

and by the way u need not tell me how much MB an AV consumes.

There are around 1000 of services that window s loads and out of it u can see only few in Task man.
U can still see more in service manager and 3rd party apps.
But u can see only user mode services that the OS software actually allows admins to see.

Whenever u install a software, it depends on how much threads it sends to ur PC, not only on How much ram it consumes. and whether the user mode driver can be handled easily.

Nod 32 used to take 540 KB of Memory (previous versions) but when I analyzed each thread I ccame to know that System services of eset plus total was 16 MB. Smart Security has 20 MB
Kaspersky has around 25 MB

a little bit of ram saving must not be customized for PC security

thelostone2, I was trying to make sense of all your drivel but I gave up.

Dude, you can write your doctorate thesis on windows memory management and afterwards NOD32 will still use less memory.

That is fact.

What are you, dyslexic or something?

Why are your posts so damn hard to read?

Spending too much time watching processes?

lol!

Presjar, where are you getting those figures; hopefully you are not falling for those numbers from Task Manager.

Have you ever written an application and then compiled it?

Do you have any idea how much 2 meg is for a Win32 app?
