Can I install this over a previous version? I am currently running the LAST final, and I don't want to find out that installing on top will create 2 versions in add/remove programs or something. Does it install ok and keeps all your old settings?
I think you need to uninstall the former version. However You can choose to save the activation and threat signatures during uninstall and re-apply them during the installation of the new version.....

who could tell me whether this version is compatible to 64bit.
I tried installing this in 64-bit and i could not even boot into windows after that.. 6.0.1.411 is working perfectly in x64 .. i don't know why this will not work for me..

I'm sorry I have nothing against 'King' Kaspersky. I have 1 gig of RAM. After installing the anti virus, I got problems like system crashes at startup (sometimes), too many false-positives (windows components) that I have to click "Add to trusted zone" repetitively, It also kills the iexplorer.exe & dllhost.exe everytime I want to open Internet Explorer, window's drwatson.exe is also terminated.
Don't you guys experienced this also?

I have been using NOD32 up to this point. When Kaspersky was installed, it seemed to function fine, but it was quite obvious that it was taking up more resources than NOD32.
So, what exactly is beneficial in Kaspersky that NOD32, or others, cannot do/have?
becoz kaspersky smells like vodka whilst nod32 is nothing more than a piece of crappy BigMac junk

I thought this kaspersky kills the windows' components only, but now whatever i do will gives application errors even though i open winamp and other third party applications. I just installed it yesterday and now, i'm uninstalling this MALWARE from my PC.
it's still cold in Russia and they just rush to finish this version for you guys in 3 days eating nothing but vodka vodka and vodka.

Well it seems hard decide which one to use, I started with KAV 6.0.2614 on my XP system had it run for a week. No viruses found. Then installed NOD32 2.70.32 in its place, checked in taskmanager to total up the physical RAM and Virtual Memory for NOD and it was around 40MB (RAM + VM). Again no viruses found. Another week later installed KAV to replace NOD, checked the resources as well RAM + VM total about 30MB. This time KAV alerting me about riskware or viruses in the system32 folder so deleted them anyway computer still running fine. Both programs seems to have cons. One file I'm confused with is HotKeysHook. It appears on my computer whenever I run trainers for my games. NOD says its a trojan but KAV does not. So who do I believe?

kaspersky rscanning uses about 10 megs of memory and 2-5 percent cpu. it causes no conflicts on my system and no slowdown that i can notice. I'm running pentium D 3.00ghz with 2gig memory. kaspersky doesn't hog memory or cause slowdowns. It also protects my system well and check my downloads as they come in for viruses. It catches network attacks and keeps me safe. I have no clue why you guys attack it all the time.
I totally agree with you. It's running smooth on my PC too, no problems.Others just don't know how to use a AV software, they not even know what a "false-positive" is. Checking a third party application is not an AV component, it's the firewall within the KIS, and you can set these alerts to not pop out every time you start a program like Winamp. NOD32 is a crappy hungarian AV and THAT is giving way too much real "false positives". I feel more safe with the KING! :)

Yes I've heard a lot of good reviews on kaspersky antivirus but unfortunately, it doesn't come soft with my system and it gives so many application errors. it terminates some windows components too like dllhost.dll, drwin.exe, svchost.exe etc..

Thanks to 9down & all user who keep thier post for other. I have some problem. I am now using windows Vista Bussiness Edition with original Key that can Activate by online. I download kaspersky(Vista Suported) from the ocfficial site Anti Virus + Internet Security boths I tried to update with all key that are not black listed. I got error updating. Signature can't be update. this antivirus & internet security can be update in windows XP. I tested. What is the problem ........... I can understand......pls ....

I know this is an old post, but...my KAV when crazy today! Error message in the little window (Status?) got red and kept telling me that my threat signature file is outdated...update.. clicked it several times and was still outdated though some update files came in...

Kackpersky has problems with vmware workstation , minefield , adobe reader 8 and emule . If you used it or looked in the forums you would know that . When it gets a bee in its bonnet it freezes the whole system , using 99% of the systems power . I have an AMD AthlonXP 3000/Barton , 333 fsb with 2G. ram , sucking with emule and using other programs with kackperksky turned on full is near to impossible . As soon as i start to open and close files fast kackperksky cant keep up with me and freezes the whole machine . One time i had to restart 5 times before kackperksky would let me take controll again . Wich is hard core mega shit when you have been waiting in X emule queues for a month .
I still use it because it is the best i have tried . Nod can nod be compared to kackperksky as nod is nod a firewall .
My computers never frozen from Kaspersky, I have Adobe Reader, but fuc.k emule I use bearshare (an old one cuz the new ones are shit) and Kaspersky has never frozen my system while detecting malware or anything. I don't have VMware

I dont like emule , you only have to read the press and look at the server lists to realise that ....EMULE IS A HONEY POT . (being honest the internet is a honey pot) If you look at the server lists you will see that they are censored , there are no sites in south america , the middle east (exept israel) , australia/oceania or china/south east asia (china power is in pakistan) . They are 95% in the EU = big brother is watching you . The most servers are in holland and have been leased to or from firms in germany , where they are doing a replay of the wich hunts of the middle ages. Some soliciters there are making thousands of prosecutions .....a month . Each cd copied costs 10,000 euros + court and soliciters costs . One guy is suposed to pay 40,000,000 euros for 15,000 cds !!! When i use china power or one of the israeli servers after a few days they seem to hold me online , using me as a server , with 20 mbs going up from the most illegal things and always less and less coming down . Waiting a month with 175 bits comming down from the things that are 600 mbs and absolutly irelevant (Spaced Out - The Very Best Of Leonard Nimoy And William Shatner ) is a pain . Every time i change servers it gets much better for a few days and then sinks to next to nothing again . I had obtained very old server lists and adresses for other servers in asia/ china but for about 6 months they wont let me connect to them allthough they are still there.
