XviD is a video codec just like DivX. Most new movies and videos are being encoded with XviD.
The XviD Codec is needed to play movies encoded by XviD. XviD is better than DivX. Features: I, P Frame encoding, PMVFast and EPZS with diamond and square pattern motion estimation, inter4v mode, fullpixell and halfpixel, precision, both MPEG4 and H263 quantizations, custom quant matrices, Adaptive quantization / Luminance masking.
XviD is a continuation of Project Mayo and aims to develope a high quality open-source MPEG-4 codec.
As you may already know, XviD comes from the same open-source project that was the basis for DivX 4.x/5.x, but instead of going all commercial, XviD remains open-source. The quality of the codec is extremely good, and encoding speed is very fast as well, so it is at least worth a try.

Attention, today on the Koepi´s site:
"My rewritten installer from yesterday deleted all codec description for VfW on uninstallation. This is fixed with a new installer that I just uploaded. So if you downloaded the XviD 1.1 final installer before 31st of december 8:30 a..m. middle european time, please re-download the installer and don't use uninstall, just overwrite everything with running the new installer. Sorry for the mess! "

Can I use this in combination wit K-lite codec 1.46?
