what's this for..???

As it says in the description, "Microsoft .NET Framework redistributable package installs the .NET Framework runtime and associated files required to run applications developed to target the .NET Framework." It's still in BETA. CTP = Community Tech Preview. So really you only need it to run applications that are built around .NET Framework 3.0, which I doubt any would be so you don't need it. I'd say it's for BETA testers and developers, for now anyway.

Just so you now once you download the relatively small file and run it, it still needs to download an extra 28MB to install.

I tried to capture the downloaded files which were in the Temp folder, but it had been split up in several different exe type files and looked confusing. Just so you know, if you want to try and retrieve the downloaded files, do it as soon as it starts installing because as I presumed, it deletes all the downloaded installation files once it is installed. But I'd advise to just wait for an offline installation to appear if you don't want to have to keep downloading files when installing.

when you are installing, you have to download 50MB .NET Framework from Microsoft site.
I think you should have DSL line if you dont want your PC was freezed like me.
