Microsoft has launched the Beta or a tester homepage. The homepage can be viewed at HomePage Preview. It is to be noted that the preview is working only in Internet Explorer at this point of time and it is giving an error while you browse through Firefox and same is the case with Opera.
The new homepage has changed the navigation and overall working of the site. Now, the site has small window like concept i.e. when someone clicks on the navigation on the right hand side they'll be able to see a small window poping up (not a new window, you can call it a frame or you can call it a layer or whatever) and that contains the information about the Microsoft products.

Doesn't look as well as I expected. But doesn't look bad, too and it's faster than old.

You kidding?
Its the oldest Webmaster trick to redirect/forward on .htaccess or script the visitor browser ua string ident to another page or show another site. Just edit ur browser ua string to a valid IE explorer string and u see the page. Mozilla/Gecko (firefox, bonecho and co. Netscape, K-Meleon etc..) only edit under browser folder, subfolder defaults, sub pref the java file. inside found eg. BonEcho, replace with valid IE Explorer String!!! Opera user set to emulate IE, type in url bar opera:config change the browser ua to IE! thats it!
This methode was done to forward by incompatible website creation the visitor to another page done for the visitor browser such as opera, ff, etc...
Same way you forward unwanted website bots/spiders on .htaccess or any scripts. Webmasters should know this!
Re: Microsoft Shows Beta Homepage by RE-CON on 2006-07-27 12:09:19
Read about apache .htaccess Asp have possible other hosting script on server. Example: You host a website but you dont want visitors with country settings EN-US, simple use .htaccess, lookup visitor UA browser ident, if its english, fwd to another host... etc. etc.. relevant website counter and visitor info stats... Server log etc..

Screenshot Firefox 2.0b1 spoof to IE7: http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/7232/uaffspoofqa9.jpg Real Firefox 2.0b1 ua: http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/7439/realffuaoj1.jpg
Good joke, my kids will believe that webserver can really know what browser I use if I do not change the UA Ident. U can change it to googles search spider ua, some websites and forums u can access hidden pages, done for indexing and ranking!

But I need to remark I will not send my kids to your school cause they will believe in wars what do not exist! By the way they will never learn how to operate the internet and what it is, how it works. How they only ever will be able to create a own Homepage? They will believe that someone jump out from the monitor and check them money in them pocket. Maybe they learn to patch some programs that all.

Re: Microsoft Shows Beta Homepage by RE-CON on 2006-07-27 13:11:35
It do not forward you to www.microsoft.com? Maybe u have any Extention setting to spoof or keep out you ua string or something like symantec firewall, internet security etc... something what effect the ua string??? Normal the websites read the visitor browser ua string and language settings to forward the visitor to them county homepage of ms. All these easiest and oldest webmaster knowledge was done for browser incompatible webcreation to detect the visitor browser and forward to a compatible page. Since 2k good webmasters create compatible pages with all webbrowsers and dont need to create different once. Gime me a screenshot please cause the messages before is for kids to read on 1st april.

Re: Microsoft Shows Beta Homepage by RE-CON on 2006-07-27 20:13:38
MY English isnt good at all. I talk about website construction and Webserver not Webbrowser. A java script execute in all browser it doesnt matter what webbrowser u use or what os. Visitor are not safe if the webmastering is full with spy scripts, tracer etc.. as long they have in Webbrowser Script activated ot r they know how to filter on fw gate unwanted scripts before they arraive the webbrowser to execute. These can be webcounters some in cooperation with marketting companies some with insurances and many many more. Look the google analyses cookie expire somewhere in year 2032 if u dont delete ur cookies before u stay traced on all activities. This scripts read the browser ident if its safari or internet explorer or what ever pocket pc browser. Pages u visitet before, where u enter the page from, ur language settings, ur screen resulution, history, os, real ip, proxy ip, etc.... These are done by Webmastering Page creation and server hosting. it was long ago when webmaster was create 2 or 3 of the same pages in different sizes and read the screen resolution out by enter a page to forward the visitor to the matching screen resolution size. Language, compatible webbrowser page etc. Some of these infos are interested from marketing analyzes and companies etc..

Just look the websites source codes and u see the constructions so u can block "unwanted, unknown" javascript, code snip sets, counter, ads, etc. etc... with the most ad blocker, firew. etc... Easiest way in firefox adblock plus and put all unwanted parts in same as in Outpost.....
Re: Microsoft Shows Beta Homepage by RE-CON on 2006-07-28 00:43:05
a thats a lot of kids here they never look inside a javascript so they dont know if its save or not and how the banner come. The banners are to get a part of money in to pay the webhost if 30 000 people read per day just on story dont u know how much traffic it produce.

BTW if you try using IE in XP, when you turn off ActiveX: A resource editor such as 'Restorator' or 'Resource Hacker' can remove the "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX" text from system32shdoclc.dll and hence the obscene popup on many pages.
If anyone has a tested scheme for positively eliminating ActiveX and VBScripting from Bill Gates' crap (prefferably the Reg keys), please report here or relevan topic news.
