this is same as virtual PC 2005...just improved name..thats it..
and official declaration of linux suport..
previous versions supported but microsoft didnt accepted it..

Actually, Vitual Server 2005 is very different from Virtual PC. It allows the Guest OS to still run after shutting down the management interface where Virtual PC does not.
I guess you could do the comparison like:
"Virtual PC = VMware Workstation" and "Virtual Server 2005 R2 = VMware Virtual Server (not GSX)"
. . .
and I have been told they are planning a newer version.
