Microsoft's List Of 800 Windows Vista-Compatible Apps
Posted by Anonymous 1016 Day ago, There are 22 comments, 24848 views
Earlier this week, Microsoft published a list of 800 applications that should run properly on its new Windows Vista operating system. On its Web site, Microsoft says the number of applications certified for use with Windows Vista is constantly growing and that its list "will be update weekly."Virtually all of Microsoft's own offerings are on the list. Also included are a host of business and security applications from vendors ranging from Intuit to Trend Micro. Desktop applications from Google made it in, but some of the world's biggest software companies, including Adobe Systems, IBM, and Symantec didn’t make the cut. Tech industry analyst Rob Enderle of the Enderle Group blames the fact that IBM and Adobe are becoming increasingly competitive with Microsoft in the desktop applications market. Also absent from the list is any software from Apple. Enderle thinks Apple has purposely chosen not to make some of its more popular applications, such as iTunes, Vista-compatible.

why i cannot see kaspersky or nod32 ?

Aren't they compatible with vista ?

by the way, what antivirus software is working better in Vista ? NOD32 or Kaspersky ?

You don't require any additional anti-malware softwares... when you have Kaspersky in your system.
I tried these anti-malware softwares to test my system (which is having Kaspersky Internet Security 6):

1. Webroot Spy sweeper latest
2. Regrun latest
3. SpySubtract latest
4. Spybot S & D latest
5. Spy Doctor latest

None of them detected any viruses, adwares, spywares etc and they reported that system is clean.
This means that, Kaspersky Internet security can provide total protection.
Don't waste your time in searching anyother anti-malware programs.

heh, Adobe is completely left out of the list.
Actually, a major software company like Adobe should be able to make their products compatible with Vista.
Only reason I can think of is CS3 is on the edge. Man, can't wait to pirate their precious creative suit. :P

Nod32 is a completely compatible with Windows Vista, 2.70 version of Nod32.
So I am sorry that ZoneAlarm isn't compatible with Windows Vista, but as I see, it will be someday :]

Some people fail to understand why not all applications make the cut. OK, so a lot of us know ipv6 is the new wave, it has lots of improvements on the 20 year old ipv4, vista is a change in that direction for windows. Vista is sooo different but yet so much like XP. A lot of similar features have been brought from XP to Vista to ease the change for users. Yes vista is another eye candy, but is that all? No, it supports ipv6 and has far more advanced security and performance features than the previous versions. Vista by default does not allow changes in main folders like program files and windows. Try creating a txt file in program files with the UAC on, doesnt work! Software companies like adobe dont make the cut, atleast yet, because they do not meet with microsofts requirements and the way vista works. These companies WILL jump on the bandwagon, some just havent gotten there yet. MS has to cut out some things and say well tough luck or comply, we have to do it this way to improve security. So don't hate, it is for the better, just most of you are scared of change.
