Mozilla always has their final's sat on the shelf and available for download for at least 24hrs before they announce their official release!

This is definitely FINAL. I also checked here: Help > About Mozilla Firefox ... and it says VERSION 3.0. The only reason why I'm re-downloading later is because I want to help Firefox set the Guiness World Record. Other than that, this is the FINAL release. Not RC.

It's NOT Final.
First time firefox starts after you install this release it tells you that it's RC3 (and not a final release).
So stop telling people that it's final when in fact IT IS NOT.
The final version will be released at 19:00 CET (that's 17:00 UTC).

When I use Firefox RC3, which was released some days ago, the "About Mozilla Firefox" dialog said that the version is 3.0 (without "RC" characters) though it's truly a RC release. So, what you see in the About Mozilla Firefox dialog box can not prove that the version in this thread is a full 3.0 release.

For what temelko said in the previous comment, I did't pay attention to the first time the new version start up then I have nothing to say. Maybe some of you can try and give your own comment.

Anyway, you always can go to Help -> Release Notes. The browser will get you to the release notes page, where it says that the current version is RC3. Anyway, we can consider that the website still not be updated and this web page can not prove anything.

FYI, the edit time of the file we download here is 2008-06-11 9:18:00 AM. You can check this information at ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/3.0/win32/en-US/

I will download FF3 in the official website. I think that's what I should do now. Wait for the official website.

The fact that you are directed to a beta page after installing the program doesn't prove that you have actually installed the beta version (or RC version, for that matter). This always happens when someone provides a link to the final version a day or two (or longer) before the official websites does. It's a time issue with the website, not the software.

If this is indeed the RC3 version, why does the URL link you to where the final version ought to be? Why would Mozilla have two locations for the same file, and have the second location labelled in such a way that anyone browsing the FTP would download some version other than what they were looking for?

I guess we'll find out in an hour anyway.

Firefox 3 issued today. Date is expected to start loading the official programme is eight p.m. (+3 GMT) today Greenwich Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon. And spends the rest of the Arab countries. Downloads will be available via the Mozilla.

They probably haven't upped the site yet because as said, "...but we're still putting the finishing touches on Firefox 3: preparing the new mozilla.com website" etc, etc. That is why after installation, they page you're redirected to isn't updated yet.

Besides, 9down has been doing this. I remembered in version 2.0.0.4, the same thing happened- not yet announced in official site, but the file is already in official public ftp site.

Yea, this version is not the final version. On their web site, they say that it is 7.8 MB rather than the 7.1 MB being served from their mirror sites at the moment. I bet they are still trying to get all their mirror sites to update to the newer version, because at the moment, the information from the RC3 file is the same as the this so-called final version. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

this spreadfirefox.com is everywhere. I allready did it to the block filter list of domains in adsblocker addon. Banners comes from there too. Lotz of freaks from this site put stuff across the net on random websites. Why should one visit spreadfox if mozilla ftp and the old real domains have it available.

So, it seems we were right all along - this submission was indeed the final version. The file size and version numbers are identical (I'm using the GB English version, which is about 2MB smaller than the US version, which may have caused confusion).

Maybe people will trust 9down's posters from here on ;) hehehe

Well, the RC 3 was simply elevated to the final version when no more bugs were found. obviously the idiots above do not know anything about software releases. so RC3 and the final build have the same hashes. bunch of idiots trying to make themselves sound right.
