ESET NOD32 Antivirus System - Integrated, Real-Time Protection against viruses, worms, trojans, spyware, adware, phishing, and hackers. Best detection, fastest performance & smallest footprint.
NOD32 Antivirus System provides well balanced, state-of-the-art protection against threats endangering your PC and enterprise systems running various platforms from Microsoft Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT / 2000 / 2003 / XP, through a number of UNIX/Linux, Novell, MS DOS operating systems to Microsoft Exchange Server, Lotus Domino and other mail servers.
Users of Microsoft® Windows® can experience the power and elegance of NOD32's ThreatSense Technology with ease and comfort. Our single optimized engine offers the best protection from viruses, spyware, adware, phishing attacks, and more. Keep tomorrow's threats at bay with our proactive detection technology. And it has the smallest footprint and fastest performance - bar none.
The fourth generation of the NOD32 Antivirus System features a fully integrated software suite characterized by an unprecedented detection track record, the fastest scanning rates and extremely low utilization of system resources. NOD32's detection efficiency combined with 2-50 times faster hard disk scanning rate earned the product many international prestigious awards.

ESET's NOD32 Key Features:
· ThreatSense™ technology — a single optimized anti-threat engine for analyzing code to identify malicious behavior, such as viruses, spyware, adware, phishing and more
· Unprecedented heuristic analysis capable of discovering new malware threats as they emerge
· Powerful virtual PC emulation technology enables unpacking and decryption of all types of archives and run-time packing
· Able to clean active malware running in memory
· Protects at multiple infiltration points, including HTTP, POP3, SMTP and all local and removable media
· Removes infections from files that are locked for writing (e.g., loaded DLL file)
· Prevents infected files from being opened and executed, and warns on creation of infected files
· Automatic execution on system startup
· Supports multiple Terminal Server environments
· Supports scanning of mapped network disks

Comprehensive Protection
NOD32 is a single, highly optimized engine that works as a unified Anti-Threat system to protect against a broad spectrum of malware. Viruses, worms, spyware, and other malicious attacks, which are constantly evolving. Eset NOD32 utilizes patent-pending ThreatSense® Technology to detect tomorrow's threats in real-time, by analyzing code execution for malicious intent - keeping you ahead of the malware-writers.

Proactive Real-Time Detection
The best security is proactive. Malware protection must be real-time at the point of impact. Every minute one waits for a virus signature update creates a window of vulnerability that could have devastating consequences. Eset NOD32's ThreatSense® Technology closes the window of vulnerability left open by other reactive, signature-based antivirus vendors.
NOD32 analyzes application execution in real-time for malicious intent to detect and block over 90% of new malware threats proactively, without the need for signature updates in most cases. Most other vendors release signatures hours after their customers have been victimized and submitted samples.

Integrated Protection
Viruses, worms, adware, and spyware can and should be detected by a single engine. A well-designed, integrated application like Eset NOD32 can detect adware, spyware, viruses, rootkits, and other malicous attacks. Running separate applications for viruses, hackers, adware, and spyware can slow your PC, be difficult to manage, and provide questionable protection. Beware of large, bloated internet security suites that consume hundreds of megabytes on your PC. These typically exist because vendors have acquired products and 'bundled' them together. In contrast, Eset NOD32 was designed from the core as a single, highly-optimized engine to stop malware.

Protection against threats from multiple input vectors is provided by the following modules:
* Antivirus MONitor (AMON). An on-access (memory-resident) scanner, which automatically scans files before they're accessed.
* NOD32. An on-demand scanner, which can be run manually on specific files or disk segments. It can also be scheduled to run during off-peak times.
* Internet MONitor (IMON). A memory-resident scanner that runs on the Winsock level to prevent infected files from reaching the computer's disks. Its scans internet web browsing traffic (HTTP) and incoming e-mail via the POP3 protocol.
* E-mail MONitor (EMON). An auxiliary module for scanning incoming/outgoing e-mails via the MAPI interface, such as Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Exchange.
* Document MONitor (DMON). Utilizes the proprietary Microsoft API for scanning Microsoft Office documents (including Internet Explorer).

Fast Performance
Great detection doesn't have to slow down your computer. Written largely in assembly language, NOD32 continually wins awards for the fastest performance of any antivirus application, on average 2 to 5 times faster than the competition (source: Virus Bulletin). Switch to NOD32 and upgrade your computer's performance.

Smallest Footprint
NOD32 conserves resources on disk and in memory, leaving more for your critical applications. The installer is just 8.6 MB and the application takes up less than 20 MB in memory (this fluctuates with changes to the detection technology). ThreatSense updates, which includes heuristics logic and signatures, are usually between 20 kB and 50 kB. Switch to NOD32 and reclaim precious resources.

Easy to Manage
Program and database updates are automaticaly performed behind the scenes. If you're an individual or home office user you can just 'set it and forget it.' Businesses and organizations with large distributed networks can use the powerful Remote Administrator to centrally deploy, install, monitor and manage thousands of NOD32 workstations and servers.

Changes in NOD32 Antivirus 2.7 :
- Fixed issue with NOD32 On-Demand Scanner closing under Windows Vista
- Fixed issue with IMON that prevented Scheduler services from starting under Windows Vista
- In the Access Monitor (AMON) module, there is now one option for moving infected files to quarantine

  • Support for Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit)
  • Enhanced rootkit detection and removal (Anti-Stealth)
  • Improved classification of spyware and adware
  • Improved removal of malware
  • and other small changes through the program.

This is a post for NOD32 will people just calm down and stop cussing and spamming? If people want to use NOD32 then let them? Use what you want to use Kaspersky and NOD32 are both top anti-virus programs, different websites have different viewpoints but any top antivirus program does the job! No need for all this crap.

Re: NOD32 Antivirus System 2.70.16 for Windows NT/2000/2003/XP/VISTA/ ... by 3M on 2006-11-19 14:17:44

I submited the news a bout NOD32 a day earlier then salmonela and the assholes at 9down didn't show it!
Mine included a link directly to the nsane patch... guess it's not worth to support this community!

And I also spent a couple of days to build up a general installer with a full tweaked and updated nod32... probably I'll keep this one for me!

Nice job Salmonela... as always!

Re: NOD32 Antivirus System 2.70.16 for Windows NT/2000/2003/XP/VISTA/ ... by _deXter_ on 2006-11-19 14:25:34
3M, you're absolutely right. I just don't understand why 9down just doesn't accept some submissions (or is it all?). There was another popular software that was recently updated (the older version was listed here at 9down), and I've followed the exact proper procedures, properly formatted it with working links, description, extended text, file size, changelog, everything.. and then.. bam, nothing. It hasn't made the frontpage yet. This isn't the first time, earlier too I've tried to submit various new and updated softwares but 9down never accepts it.

It's such a waste of time, one would rather spam every news post than try to use the "Submit" link :P

Yeah... when I submitted the news the system said that there are other 130 news that need to be verified! Probably they choose mostly the submissions made by people they know, like salmo.

Something I've noticed since installing this final build is I've only got sig file 1869, previously I had the release candidate loaded and I'm sure I had 1870? why no update? Just wondering if the fix is working 100% (I've used the fix from the nsane site)

I've tried the trial & retail versions on two separate pcs both with the proper nsane fix and neither has updated the sig file to 1870?
Re: NOD32 Antivirus System 2.70.16 for Windows NT/2000/2003/XP/VISTA/ ... by _deXter_ on 2006-11-20 00:21:21
@Hoca:

The fix sets nod32 to use the eval servers. The eval servers don't update as often as the retail servers, so you may get delayed updates and no updates on weekends :)

Hoca,
You may have to bounce around a bit to find a server that will deliver;
I noticed with this last nsane patch that I couldn't just stick with one
server like I used to; this may be caused by the ESET people
and nothing to do with nsane's patch;
e.g. I'd check into server "U3eset.com" and nothing,
then I'd switch to "U7eset.com" and there would be a window with a small file
to download (not an Update, though it looks like one),
then I'd switch back to "U3eset.com" and the update file would Download!!
Switch around abit on the Servers and you should come up with a file update
within 5 minutes! All in all, a lot better then having to search and change
a Username/Password every other day.

Stop blaming salmonela... like there haven't been tons of fake posts with useless crap and virused files from lots of the users here! It happens from time to time... and now it's happened to him!

So let's focus on guiding people in the process of applying the right patch... and a message for the admins/mods: remove the infected fix from the article... if it's not to much to ask!

Nice link uagadugu... wheres the comparison?!

But in fairness to Kaspersky, it has a good on demand scanner. It is only good as long as its virus definition is the latest.

NOD32 on the other hand, has lesser resources compared to Kaspersky, and it has better heuristics that can detect possible viruses that are not yet in its database.

I use them both.

By the way, IF YOU WANT TO BE RESPECTED, BE NICE!!! VOICE OUT YOUR OPINIONS IN A NICE WAY!!!

You know what, I THINK YOU'RE A MORON TOO!!! YOUR ACTIONS IS JUST LIKE THAT OF A MORON!!!
RE : by PD1447 on 2006-11-23 08:16:46

As you can see you have attracted the attention of the uagadugu..

What YOU need to know is that he's a child who is either on drugs...or needs to be on em!

Don't get involved with him he's a creep who has caused more damage then Katrina.

Not worth your time really you should just ignore and hope he eventually grows up and goes off to elementary school.

@Gandu

DeepFreeze isn't for everybody. Sure, it's probably the best option in a Net Cafe or a public access place or even in an office, but home users may not benifit much from it.

Why I say this is because

1) The home user needs to save data to all drives time and again. DeepFreeze would be of no use there.
2) Say a macro virus is spreading silently across word documents, now the user will copy to an external drive to another comp, DeepFreeze doesn't prevent it now does it? What use will DeepFreeze be, if the user never even knows a virus is sitting in there?

In the end DeepFreeze is only just an additional shield and probably a last-resort option when you're unable to remove a virus. Even then, that doesn't prevent the virus from reentering your comp through some other media.

Or worse still, what if you have a trojan already sitting in the comp before you even install DeepFreeze? Then no matter how many times you freeze/thaw the trojan won't go away.

I would suggest you to stop recommending DeepFreeze as a replacement for proper antivirus/internet security software(s).

The antivirus is called NOD32... just go to nsaneproductions dot com... search for Eset NOD32 and you will have there direct download links for the antivirus and the fix for gazillion years of updates!

Plain and simple!

You also might want to configure NOD32 to maximum... then go to nod32-av dot com and there should be a link to an idiot-proof guide!

And you are one dumb fukin asshole. You need to get rid of your computer and get something you might understand a little easier. Like a shovel. Get 1 and start diggin cause thats about all the mental skill you possese. Using a compuiter? Obviously way out of your reach.

Now get away from the computer and never touch it again lease you risk serious personal injury. Your that fukin stupid.

I installed Nod32 2.70.16 with Nsane 2.1 Fix on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. After a week it appeared a window asking me username and password to make an update from nod32 servers, since then I cannot update my nod32. Earlier versions worked for me with Nsane 2.1 Fix.. but it seems that the fix lasts only a week for 2.70. Please let me know if you got a newer fix.

Why Kaspersky IS Better Than nodCRAP - Here’s another reason!

By: Alexander Dimitru, Security Expert

"You can’t always tell which is the best anti-virus for your machine, as all the vendors will claim they deliver top-notch solutions, that they are leaders on the market and all that. Also, you often get facts stating that in some test a certain anti-virus ranked first, but they rarely state what competition they had. In any case, in view of recent events, Kaspersky beats the crap out of nodCRAP; and I will give you some facts and explain why it is so.

A computer with nodCRAP and Windows XP SP2 had been infected by several Trojans. The AV found two of them and no matter how many times you would delete them, they would still pop up after rebooting. nodCRAP could not disinfect the files, it just deleted them. That was pretty nasty. Couldn’t get rid of the threats! Cmd didn’t help much either – I guess they were stuck in the Recycler or something. Now, what I advised the owner of the affected machine was to run other AV solutions… however, none of the free ones seemed to do better than nodCRAP, fact which was to be expected. Then she asked me what else could she buy, so I advised her to get Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0. The minute it had been installed it asked for an update and a full system scan. It took Kaspersky about 2 hours to scan a 70% full 160GB hard drive, but it found 8 threats and eliminated them all. I then rebooted the machine and scanned the folders where the viruses had been discovered – now it was all clean. So, based on this experience, I would definitely go with Kaspersky, rather than nodCRAP.

To us users, it’s these things that count. It doesn’t matter what tests and magazines say – when you’re facing a threat and your AV doesn’t help you enough, then you deem it useless. Users don't care what other threats it may destroy – they want to get rid of the ones THEY'RE facing! Furthermore, after this happening, I definitely became a Kaspersky fan. I, for one, don’t care how much resource it will eat up – at least I will stay protected. What’s the use of having security software that will not "stress" your machine, if it’s also ineffective against viruses?"
