The nero website only mentions v6.6.1.15a, no mention of this release.
Can anyone confirm it is an official general release and not a specific burner release?

Sounds like a false detection to me.

it's not false it's toolbar and this toolbar like many other toolbars are spyware or adware!!! INSTAL this NERO WITHOUT TOOLBAR!!!!

Seems this release is for the US version of nero only.

open the setup file with winrar. License agreements Sweden, Denmark etc.. can't be US!
You have to install and download the language pack after. About OEM and so called player specific version read in the extracted file with notepad the uninstall script "UNNero.cfg" there is all written what versions exist.
It seems to be all the same only the installer script file "Setupx.cfg" makes the difference but you can replace this file anytime and repack nero using the latest version of cdspeed ...
To make it slim without lost any feature as some clever did before removing components, krrrr....
UPX /LZMA /bruthforce /max nero.exe and all other exe files. some dll's (test it cause 4 dll's can not compress or it won't work anymore)
The result repack all files into its original winrar installer sfx back and nero is installed with all features about 37 - 39 MB from over 100 MB shrink (up to ur settings using upx). There no need to rip anythink from it to get it "SLIM".
p.s special versions OEM are not to download from ahead/nero server url's.

sure if toolbars adware inside some AV may detect adware viruses. You can ignore it.
Use WinRAR enabled looked archive editing version to unrar or modify Nero-6.6.1.15c_wch.exe

How to get wehater Channel and the other toolbars out:
remove the files in Nero-6.6.1.15c_wch.exe

replace description in winrar:
SFX script commands
to start setup with
Setup=setupx.exe /SFX

from Setup=NeroBar.exe /SFX

replace file Setupx.cfg with
Nero no toolbar versions one.

OEM Versions are under ftp folders /OEM/Brandname to see in link by ahead/nero ftp download links.

where is dowload No_WCH 6.6.1.15C exe ??

replace the installer script file Setupx.cfg with the one from Nero-6.6.1.15_no_at.exe

voila, install without any toolbar and lightscribe enabled!
