NOD32 Antivirus System provides balanced protection against threats endangering your PC. Viruses, worms, and other malware are kept out of striking distance from your valuable data. Advanced detection methods implemented in the software provide protection against a great proportion of the worms and viruses that are still awaiting creation.Nod32 v2.50.16 administrator version for Windows 95/98/ME

Just use standard version if you are using standalone computer.
Administrator version is used in LAN or WAN, which server updates the virus signature, then copy the file to the clients.
This function is useless in standalone computer.

Anyone, i downloaded the standard version and it was working fine, i need the file to install to another pc, i lost the downloaded file, anyone who has the file please upload it, as the download link, doesnt work with the passwords provided. T_T
NOD32 for Exchange by venomhed on 2005-05-16 00:09:40
I would say that the NOD32 Exchange version would be more desired than the Administrator version. Admin version isn't much different than the Standalone and sicne the .dat files are so small, Admin version cannot push out the AV to clients, the Admin version is practically useless.

Anyone grab the Exchange version or find it please post. i would definitely appreciate it!

Thanks!

I tried to install and it cannot find the exe. This stinks. I am using XP. I even download from the home site same thing happened. I have heard good things about this and was wanting to switch to it. I am using noton. Is there a clean tool for norton to remove any remnents that are causing this conflict from my system?
RE : by venomhed on 2005-05-16 02:56:39
Yes its called REINSTALL!

Just kidding (maybe not).

Go to Symantec.com and you can look up how to manually uninstall any Norton/Symantec prodcut. It takes a VERY long time and requires registry editing.

Nod32 Piracying ** [ www.9down.com refused this word ] ** by _deXter_ on 2005-05-17 10:43:58
The essence of an AntiVirus is its updates. An AV is useless without updates. Ok, so NOD32 has the best heuristics ever, but people keep inventing new stuff all the time; I myself make virii that uptil now no AV has ever caught (even NOD32). So wheres the so called heuristics??? Heuristics will only get you so far. Without the updates, an AV is useless.

My point is, WhoTheHell is going to get new un/pwds every time eset blacklists it?? A/V updates should be automatic, and with the pwds getting blacklisted all the time.. Pain in the @55.

An AV software thus, in my view: (1) Should not bother the user at all (2) Uses the least amount of resources (3) Update and work fully automatically (4) It should Work.

Although NOD32 qualifies for all the above reasons, but u are pirating it, which means frequent changing of Un/Pwd for updates, which means manual updates; or unfrequent updating (or no updates) which defeats the entire purpose of using A/v softs.

So if you want an av that has good detection, works in the background, doesn't bother the user at all, updates automatically, and uses the LEAST amount of resources, and on top of it all, not pay for it, then I suggest you try Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition. (its in its 10th major version now)

Currently, SAV uses just about 3MB of RAM, while NOD uses around 15MB :P
And don't believe the statistics either. I have been using SAV since a few years now and I've never faced any virus slipping thru SAV, and SAV has caught virii from mydoom to mellisa in my comp. Ok, so maybe the scanning speed is nowhere close to NOD32, but who does manual scans anyways? The background monitor anyways scans every file that is accessed, so why bother?

Conclusion: If you want to BUY an a/v software, then NOD32 is the best. If you want an a/v software thats FREE (legally) then try Avast. If you want an a/v for free (illegally), which uses the least amount of resources, then use SAV. If you want an a/v just to manually clean and remove viruses, then try McAfee's command line scanner along with Bart's McAfee GUI. (McAfee's virus defs are the best, they have around 150,000 signatures)

Ok, deXter, and so?
Where we can download SAV?

And wath you say on how much "heavy" and "invasive" (well know to all...) is the Norton AV on the system resources?
All forum say lies?
Pardon for my bad english...
Bye

Hey smart guy!

Then why did Symantec AC Vorp 9.0.3.1000 miss 43 variants of the same virus?

Nice try, Symantec spends far too much on advertising on not enough on the program.

RE : by Bad_Head on 2005-05-18 00:29:22
Uhmm... Perhaps it will be better to think to something other like Antivir PE or AVG Free Ed.

Hi "gag",
excuse me, you say but it is not the contrary?
I believed that it had to be backdated and not to be postdated :(((

Sorry about a mistake that Bad_Head prompted me to verify.
Before sleeping, I could notice a free evaluation period of about 45 years.
Today, and after a short night, I discover 28 days remaining.
What to do ? Lodge a complaint ?
No prospect of success : my english is too poor.
From now on, I'll fight against virusses with hands.

Just look at yahoo and hotmail services. Yahoo didn't caught the recent worm w32/sober.p@mm while hotmail did. Its quite evident that Norton Antivirus sux while McAfee Rocks (Y), atleast i am happy with McAfee.
