What's the use of downloading it?
Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by PD1447 on 2006-09-18 06:03:42
There is no use downloading this. Norton is a worse system hog then Kaspersky and is just plain crap when it comes to protection.

Well, I tried it just once and... will never again. It's a total crap! NOD32 forever! Do you agree?

RE : by raskorli on 2007-02-03 05:44:04

Sorry but Panda is rather the best AV around. I know most of you are trying to market NOD32, but i will say it is a crap.

Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by PD1447 on 2006-09-18 06:31:34
I agree NOD32 and tiny firewall, combined with a few spyware apps and your set. But I'll never run this crap again, and I haven't for about 4 years.
Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by UltimateGamer98 on 2006-09-18 06:42:04
I've personally think Norton isn't worth it. I've had prolems removing it from my computer and just running it and so have my friends so I will agree with PD1447!

Also to much trouble just to get the darn thing activated and if your able to get it activated its only for little bit, so I recommend not to download this!
Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by Yousafzai on 2006-09-18 06:50:43
I've been using Norton for years. I agree with u guys that I slows the system down. But as compared to Norton Internet Security 2006, the 2007 release is much faster than the old. But yes, the registration of the product is still an issue. Hope some would solve this issue very soon.
Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by PD1447 on 2006-09-18 07:03:46
NOD32 is a far superior antivirus and tiny firewall shines compared to norton.Compare the instalation sizes, Norton is probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 to 400 megs, NOD32 and Tiny firewall barely make 10megs and the protection can't be equaled. Especialy by norton.
Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by PD1447 on 2006-09-18 07:12:03
I stand corrected the totle install size of NOD32 and tiny firewall is 40megs not 10megs. But this is still far shy of the 300 to 400megs that norton IS usually is. Oh by the way Norton has really be slipping on their updates for their AV. Use to be a couple of times a week, now it seems to be just a couple a times a month, not good.

Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by pjmelect on 2006-09-18 08:45:00
You must be out of your mind to install Norton anti-virus. I wouldn’t accept it for free. It is a notorious resource hog and if you try and uninstall it, it can trash your system. I don’t know if this latest version is any better than the previous versions, but I wouldn’t risk it.
RE : by PD1447 on 2006-09-18 08:52:59

Could not give a better warning then this. I agree 1000% stay away or you regret it in spades!!

 Norton Sucks The Big One!!!!!

Use NOD32 and a good firewall like Tiny or Bit Defender. Don't risk your system with this crap!

Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by PirateOfTheCaribbean on 2006-09-18 08:57:23
Symantec and Norton can shove a long pole up their @$$3$.... ;)

BitDefender Internet Security 10 is THE BEST!!! [NOD32 pretty good too...]
Check 9down for it.

RE : by PD1447 on 2006-09-18 11:18:31
I would'nt trust it on a game boy much less a rig running windows 95. Vista? Forget about it.
Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by someguy on 2006-09-18 11:32:49
I dont know why people are going through all this trouble for a shit AV. If you want a shit AV thats easy to get and register, then why dont you use Kaspersky?
Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by Huskymusky on 2006-09-18 12:33:04
Please stop spamming NOD32. If I want to be preached to I'll go to Wilders where NOD32 is THE only antivirus you are allowed to talk about. Wilders is Spamalot. Also stop bashing Norton, it doesn't make you KEWL.

Please let us know when there is a usable workaround for Norton Antivirus 2007.

Thank you for your attention.

Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by cyberloner on 2006-09-18 13:05:30
yea u forgot paste this one
Heuristics-only detection
(includes only antivirus software that allowed heuristics NOT to be used during the scan)

What are heuristics: They analyze the code of each file with generic methods and detect new viruses that have not yet been included in the virus database of the antivirus software.

Why are heuristics important: Because they help the antivirus software to discover a new unknown virus and thus protect the pc from being infected, even though the specific virus has not yet been included in the virus database of the antivirus software.

Rank Antivirus - Detected using only heuristics (this is the total of samples that would not be detected by each antivirus if heuristics were not used and not the total of samples that are detected by each antivirus using heuristics!)

Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by PD1447 on 2006-09-18 20:12:16
Ok I have advised against using this program because Norton has been known as a systen hog and their detection rating has fallen over the past few years. So if anyone has tried the 2007 version first hand let us know just how go or bad it's working for you. Is it using a lot of CPU cycles, how long are the scans taking, and is the detection ratio better then it use to be. If you ever used a different brand of AV, how does this one compare? We need a good evaluation to see if Norton has redemed themselves.

On a happier note THANK YOU 9down for finnally getting rid of the jerk ugadugu or whatever the idiot called himself. Life just got a lot better around here.

9down is free once again.

Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by humeyboy on 2006-09-19 02:41:49
Kaspersky has a bug where it breaks windows file system since oct 2005, go read their forums and search under "chkdsk" you f00king idiot, and this is again OFFTOPIC go and open a thread all about Kaspersky if you love it so much.

If you aint ran the 2007 Norton apps you can say shit about them cause you aint tried and dont know shit, I however have ram the Kaspersky and liked them kinda till I found out it was it that broke my chkdsk.

LOL, "system hog".
Please, everybody, just ignore these lammers, they don't know what their talking about. From norton 2006 to 2007 there was a lot of progress. I ALWAYS HATED NORTON ANTIVIRUS, and now i simply loved it. There are 2 kinds of people:

1 - people who say " norton sucks" and they never test the new versions, because they are too lamme for that
2 - people who say "norton sucks" BUT THEY TEST EVERY SINGLE **[ 9down.com refused this word ]**ING VERSION, so they can give an opinion.
JUST IGNORE ALL THE MOTHER**[ 9down.com refused this word ]**ERS WHO SAY "norton sucks" BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST CHILDREN WITHOU ANY COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE, AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN HACKED ANY COMPUTER SO , ALSO NO SECURITY KNOWLEDGE
Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by Mohave_Cowboy on 2006-09-23 11:25:47
You suck LordNykon............Computer knowledge my ass!!! Thats why i own my own computer business ha!!!....I don't know everything about PC's but know enough about software to know what works best. Thats why i use the software i posted above and put it on every PC i work on. I never had one complaint about putting that software on peaples PC's. If you had the sense to use the software i posted above, you wouldn't have idiots like Lord even getting the chance to hack on your PC!!..The software i posted above, are free for life, with free updates for life!! You don't have to worry about a stupid yearly subscription. I do know what i'm talking about Lord!!!!! NORTON SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!........You got your opinion, and i got mine!!! Leave it at that and stop talking shit!!!!!!!

For all spammers and lammers (and for those who are confused ) :
1)2007 version is much faster than previous versions and uses much less resources
2)2006 & 2007 are updated daily
3)Norton of course will support Windows Vista
4)If you think that the program will not be uninstalled properly I recommend Ashampoo Uninstaller

Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by linFoxp22 on 2006-09-27 14:28:44
If you did a packet capture while it was activating, then good. Otherwise, nothing I can do yet.

You can get the Parental Control and Ad blocking as a free addon from Symantec's website.

Try sth like activating online without be connected to internet and press cancel when it shows a bar. This should show alternate activation methods. At least that worked for 2005. Also try extraxting files from NAV071400.exe.

versace,help !!
Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by linFoxp22 on 2006-10-04 08:31:10
A packet capture is, basically, capturing all the data coming and going through your computer over the network.

This is what to do if you have a legal activation ready:
On Windows, install the tool 'Ethereal' (you also need WinPcap, which should be installed with Ethereal)
Then start a capture in Ethereal, then while the catpure is in progress, activate your copy of NIS, then once it is done, stop the capture and then upload it somewhere for me to check.
Once I've looked throught it I can write a script for everybody to use to activate any NIS install.

But hey....NIS and NAV really isn't any good at all.
Install Kaspersky or Bitdefender if you want real protection at a fraction of the resource usage.

Can anyone share this file above on rapidshare please.

I mean Nis2007 retail version.

RE : by pcnapster on 2006-10-18 10:11:31
you can't share files over 100MB and that file is like 125MB so no, but what's wrong with that torrent. just install BitComet and download it :-)
Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by onepunjab on 2006-10-17 11:58:03
what i did i had a valid keys for NIS 2006 I UNINSTALLED FIRST THEN I INSTALED NIS 2007 AT THE END SAID I HAVE 245 DAYS LEFT. NEVER EVEN ASK ME FOR THE KEYS FOR 2007.... WORKING FINE .......
RE : by leekey on 2006-10-17 16:06:15
Yes this will work as you had a valid key for 2006, NIS 2007 is a free upgrade from 2006 for those who had it that is why you only have 245 days left not the 365 if it was a completly fresh install. When uninstalling NIS 2006 it leaves hidden folders and registry entries on your PC. If you want to do a complete fresh new install you need to uninstall previous versions then remove any hidden files and folders from your PC and registry.
Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by linFoxp22 on 2006-10-17 16:09:08
onepunjab, could you possibly uninstall NIS, install 'Ethereal', then reinstall NIS and run a packet capture of the entire activation process (using Ethereal)? If I could look at the packet capture data, I could probably create an activation script so anyone can activate any installation.
I won't be able to see your product key or anything, don't worry.
If you do do this, save the capture data and upload it somewhere like rapidshare, then post the link here.

i would like to download mcafee internet security 2007 but it can only download via rapidshare which is crap because u need premium account to really down load it. if u have username and password that be cool then i can download.

anyway to everyone on this key issue hurry up lol so everyone can enjoy nortons if not we could all use mcafee
RE : by pcnapster on 2006-10-20 03:49:23
you don't need a premium account, yiu just choose free and then wait for like 100 seconds and then the donwload starts. but to download again for free you have to reopen Internet Explorer and then do it.

I don't know if this works but couldn't you just install NIS 2006 for 2457 days and just upgrade that to NIS 2007? I haven't tried this so just wait till I do it if you don't want to.
Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by benki on 2006-11-02 03:41:59

This is a full retail version (92mb approx) and has a phone activation feature...personally i don't use Norton (sticking with trend micro after i couldn't find a working norton) but people on other boards said that this was working thats why i posted here. I'm still on the looking for NIS2007 though.

Also I talked to Symantec and they said its not possible to upgrade your Norton product, you just have to install the new version. So the people who are talking about upgrading from NSW 2006 to NIS 2007 and stuff like that; it doesn't work.

there is my norton 2006 which has 869 days left.

Don't listen to those people who are saying that Norton sucks. I have Norton Internet Security 2005 right now and it is now any slow as most people say. By the way on early 2006, on PC WORLD or something there was a post or something comparing most of the Internet Security softwares and Norton Internet Security was the only one to detect 100 % (yes one zero zero One hundred). of the viruses. It didn't detect all of the spyware and stuff but it detected the most.

WARNING TO ZONEALARM USERS: It is a good Internet Security program but it had a problem that was detected on 2001 by Microsoft and it still exists.Whenever you install a new Windows even on a different drive, something goes wrong with the TrueVector service that exists in all ZoneAlarm products. Your Internet doesn't work or some programs that requires internet doesn't work. This even happens if you install the new Windows on a different drive or the same drive. Internet won't work on any Windows. The only way out is to format or recovery. I just used the recovery program three days ago because of it. I installed Windows Vista on other drive.

If anybody look into the NIS 2007 userguide, in page 15 you will see that there's a chance that we can activate by phone. Here are words in the userguide:

"If you cannot connect to the Symantec servers to activate
your product, first check to see if you have parental control
software, either installed or through your ISP, that might
be blocking the connection.
A connectivity problem may occur if you are using parental
control software. If you suspect that parental controls are
blocking the connection, you can configure the parental
controls so that they do not block the activation procedure.
You will need to sign in to your parental control software
as an administrator, or log on to the Internet through your
ISP as an administrator to change your configuration.
If parental controls are not the problem, or if you cannot
reconfigure your parental controls to resolve the issue, you
can activate by phone.
w Before you begin, be prepared to write down the code that
you may receive at the end of the call.
To activate your product by phone
1 Disconnect from the Internet.
2 In the Connection Problem window, click Activate my
software by phone, and then click Next.
3 In the Phone Activation window, select your country.
4 Use the telephone number that displays in the box to
the right.
5 Follow the voice prompts that are provided."

But after many trials I cannot switch to the phone activation. Anyone knows what the term "Parental control software" is all about? Maybe by someway we can force it stop working so NIS let us activate by phone.

Hi All I have been on the web since 1994 and have tryed all the diffrent Antivirus removers through the years, For nortons it is a good antivirus for new web users it is user friendly and works half ass good but it has holes in it to where certian viruses can disable it and then take over your system. I have had it done to me and did reserch on it.
out of all of them the 2 best i have found for detecting viruses and not using a lot of system resorcess are nod 32 and kaspersky  Nod32 is the best when it comes to not using system resorces and kaspersky is just a bit better at detecting viruses and it also detects viruses in the wild / viruses that have not been reconized yet. I set up systems for People and use Nod32 for people with older systems and use Kaspersky for newer systems they both work Good.
and  use nortons for people that are just starting out and do not want to mess with pop up windows ect.
I also tryed Avast antivirus it worked well detecting worms and viruses but was a real big system resorce hog and slowed down the system to a crawl. and if you have a virus and go to use it it will lock up your system.
they had another one called MK5 that worked well about like kaspersky. and Mcafee  2007 sucked bad it locked up my system and 2 other peoples system that I tryed it out on some body should be fired for that 2007 virsion that was made it was not user friendly and had a lot of error / bugs in it it was not even ready to ever be relesed, so it should not even be an option as an antivirus remover program to be used. Well thats it. later All.

Re: Norton AntiVirus / Internet Security 2007 Final by dazza2963 on 2007-04-06 07:04:16
To get phone activation even on trial versions, just turn off protect my symantec product in settings then go to directory program files/norton internet security and temporarily delete the file isbtplug.dll file.Only delete once you have clicked on activate product else no activation box will come up.once box appears delete file to recycle bin then make sure you are off line and click activate. Then once phone activation box appears restore the file you have deleted back to directory. This works on internet security and nav 2007.
