NVIDIA just released a new ForceWare driver, beta yet official as they are distributing it directly toward you, the users. This build should fix the 'shimmering' bug/optimization as reported by a couple of websites. This is a Windows 2000/XP (32-bit) official NVIDIA release.
Resolved issue with some application profile settings not overriding the global profiles settings. Improved High Quality performance setting on GeForce 7 series to reduce shimmering artifacts Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0c and OpenGL® 2.0 support
Driver Installation Hints:
Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove.

I'd the same problem with FX5200 but not with FX5700...
It seems that new drivers are compiled and optimised just for newer cards.
Probably U can try a few versions, but 71.89 works well.
No problems were with 77.77 and I'm enjoying testing 78.01 (official) & 78.03 drivers.

This is not a Beta, it is WHQL.
Also if you read the release notes, all this new version does, is add support for the 6500. If you don't have that, then there is no reason for you to get this. It will not increase any performance.
If you can't play movies for some reason, that is a problem with your player, or installation. That was never a bug with any nVidia Forceware driver. Gamma control issue was fixed in 77.77.
Stick w/ 77.77 if you don't have a 6500. Otherwise this release is pointless.

Not playing videos was an issue with those drivers. It happened
to me and lots of others and went away as soon as I went back to the
previous drivers. So nah.
