Only 104 Applications 'Vista Certified'
Posted by Anonymous 1007 Day ago, There are 36 comments, 21794 views
Microsoft on Wednesday published a list of the applications that have received either "Certified for Windows Vista" or "Works with Windows Vista" status. Of the 787 listed, 103 are Microsoft's own products, indicating few software developers have completed the logo process.104 applications thus far have been deemed "Certified for Windows Vista," including a number from Trend Micro, ArcSoft, CyberLink and Corel's CoreDraw. Software from Adobe, Symantec, McAfee and other major vendors has yet to make the list, which Microsoft says will be updated each week. The small number of applications could be why Microsoft is offering to pay up to $1,000 to a third party certification company for software developers to test their programs.

Re: Only 104 Applications 'Vista Certified' by dark_messiah on 2007-02-22 22:46:34
"Certified for Windows Vista" list contains only 24 Microsoft apps out of 104. That means 80 products are directly certified and hundreds have "Works with Windows Vista" status... The fact that 103 applications out of 787 are from Microsoft is understandable - why should it surprise us?

What do you mean XP is out-dated , do you mean as a tool or a fashion accessory?
Do you know what you're talking about?
What are you gonna say in 9 months time when PC World and the all the other main computer stores go back to having XP as the default Operating System because Vista failed?
How much did you pay for Vista?
Is it really worth it?
What can't XP do that Vista can?
Vista's crap mate , you've been sucked in.
But thank you for sharing your point of view.

psycho69 has right. mph185 is the another kid, who thinks he's cool because he uses "new and shiny" Windows Vista...
Vista sucks. Okay, Vista has some new functions...but who cares?
WinXP is quite old, so it is much more stable and fast than WinVista.
Vista is for n00bs...they think M$ Windows is the only Operating System...
mph185, you hypocrite...a few days before you install WinVasta, you probably use pirated WinXP with a smile on your poor face...
Relax...and get outta that forum.
I wish your TimerStop\KMS Activation\Frankenbuild Method will screw your Vista and you'll install WinXP again.

i got a pirated cd of vista n used it for some time. what i feel is that its no big deal really.apart from the aero everything is same. there was nothing i couldn't do on Xp before.

anyways MS should realise that the biggest competitor of Vista is not mac, not ubuntu, not other linux .... its XP !!!
Re: Only 104 Applications 'Vista Certified' by fatboys25 on 2007-02-23 20:45:20
Consider that you can upgrade a p2 or p3 to XP
with ie7 and media player 11
and be more functional than ever with current updates comming in
all the time (there were a heap this Feb. for o.s. and office 2003)
And that you can still have XP run the newest of Hardwares & Programs with Perfect Results.

At the present XP is far the leader over the new Vista o.s.

Pretty User Displays do not mean anything over Functionality. When XP was introduced
it resolved lots of issues for 1 USB Connectivity.

Vista is not boasting anything but protection and pretty features and menu's.

By the time they bring out the sp2 cd version
things might be upto the standard users are use too now with xp. hey.

Re: Only 104 Applications 'Vista Certified' by james890526 on 2007-02-23 23:46:17
mph185 has got his point tat Vista is 'good'
but i don't think Vista is that extremely good due to the incomplete softwares signature...
and i don't think XP users are noobs since i'm using XP too....
so i think mph185 should get lost from 9down rather than barking all those nonsense here...
9down doesn't welcome barking dogs u know

Hey I Vista is sooo! good why is are there rumers of a service pack 1 already. I've had Vista running for a while, went back to Windows XP.... because hardly any games work with it....104 Applications work what a load of C.R.A.P vista is.
Re: Only 104 Applications 'Vista Certified' by james890526 on 2007-02-24 01:26:57
ya, i know Vista won't suit most of us now........
but juz get used to it........
each version has its own benefits.....
plz don't argue with a programmer ok??
Vista is Vista and XP is still XP...
Don't take 2 different things to make comparison........
all those craps above just gimme a head ache

Re: Only 104 Applications 'Vista Certified' by Inny on 2007-02-26 18:33:31
mph185, you're boring...
If you want, wait for the future with Vista...but remember we live in the present. For this day it's crazy to replace WinXP with WinVista...Even if you want to buy some new hardware...no, you should buy a new PC, it's the only way to make WinVista really comfortable for user.
Do you like EAX or EAX HD? So now you have a problem - Vista's DX10 doesn't include DirectSound...Developers have to use OpenAL (OpenAudioLibrary)!DX10 partially supports dual core processors, but THE FUTURE ARE QUAD CORE PROCESSORS...DirectX10 doesn't support quad core.UAC is rubbish, the performance is much lower than it can be because of content protection...btw, i bet you won't be able to run High Definition content...HD STANDARD IS THE FUTURE! You'll see, SP1 will bring DX 10.1 or 11(I think 10.1)...because DX10 must be elaborated and users will complain that there's no DirectSound, but only OpenAL - free and opensource audio library, known for Linux users.
So tell me...WHERE'S YOUR FU.CKIN FUTURE, MORON?
Re: Only 104 Applications 'Vista Certified' by Inny on 2007-02-26 18:38:39
And remember...new DirectX, new hardware...because DX10 Cards will support 10 like DX9.0b Cards support DX9.0c...software mode. In new DirectX unified shader will be updated to...4.1? 4.5? 5.0? We don't know...

Vi$TA will always SuKK ! Ram HOG and BloWare! End of Story... by trollwatcher on 2007-05-06 05:27:06
Vi$TA is the perfect example of where society, as well as computing, is headed. Pointless wasteful products, and "churning out total trash and sell sell sell" bottom line BS disregarding anything else,
and making rich coke snorting caviar rammers richer,
working class real people destitute,
and ripping off stupid brainless greedy shareholders who think they are 'smarter' than the working class and the richoz, lol ! Now THAT'S dUmB...

V$ is a freakin sluggish spyware magnet filled POS, that's geared to let the thugs in, and lock the user out.
Yes Linux is an excellent alternative, Mac is fine if only 5 easy apps is your thing (lol)

but why should Windows junkies bother to wean over to those when 98/ME/2000/2003 and XP and Media Centre are still kicking serious ass?

There are millions of working Winapps our there, who needs to do battle with unnecessary hardware and an op system that will only serve as a ball breakka from day one,
as has already been documented by many,
just check out YouTube and have some tissues handy:(

Vi$TA: THE WTF starts NOW !!! :@
