Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro 3.0 beta

Agnitum's Outpost Firewall Pro 3.0 delivers even more protection against spyware and hacker's threats along with improved performance, control and usability.

The following features are introduced:
- Real-time spyware protection monitors and blocks every attempt by malware programs to harm your computer.
- Spyware On-Demand Scanner lets you check your system for spyware threats to identify and remove them from your computer.
- ID Block prevents specific personal data leaks from occurring on your computer.
- Attack Detection plug-in detects and averts particular Ethernet attacks such as IP spoofing, ARP scanning, ARP flood and others, protecting your system from invasions on a local network and more Internet attacks providing even more solid protection against external threats.
- Improved Component Control monitors the more vulnerable locations and files to decrease the number of pop-up prompts requiring user interaction.
- The 'Smart Advisor' function provides additional information on each Outpost Firewall Pro event and gives recommendations so users are more confident in their decisions.
- The feedback service allows reporting of Outpost Firewall Pro issues to Agnitum support service directly from the program.

The following issues are fixed (only major ones are listed):
- 'Allow/Block Once' commands logic was changed. All data from specified local port to specified remote ports and addresses will be allowed/blocked during a single communication.
- Subnet mask and wildcards ('*') can be correctly used in editing dialogs for IP address lists.
- Rules creation for FTP DATA is fixed. If your computer was set up as an Internet Connection Sharing gateway, access to FTP servers could be blocked if using FTP active mode.
- The problem of high CPU usage in the case of a DoS attack is fixed.

THAT'S THE BIGGEST BULL SHIT

Outpost is the most userfriendly firewall by a thousand miles!!
RE : by Unbekannt on 2005-09-10 08:17:47
Calm down. Do you want a "most userfriendly" firewall or a really trustworthy security solution? I prefer something that really protects my data and ports. Hey, fubukifan do you really know what a good firewall must do? Because i know, and isn´t just that "userfriendly" thing. This is for pure amauters, that can´t distinguish a true firewall and other garbage "beauty and userfriendly" like that Agnitum Outpost. A firewall must be in the frontline, scanning ports and all intenet traffic. While you´re connected, the app must protect your personal data from hackers that pings every time on your IP, sometimes using Net-Worms, sometimes using the well known web bugs. I just want to help the guys with my professional point of view. I don´t want to begin a war for a firewall. But, take your time if you want to keep using Outpost. Doesn´t matter for me. I´m a PhD in computer science and graduated in computer information systems. So, i trust in my tests, I trust in what my eyes can see. So, I won´t give a second chance to the outpost and its "psychological and fake" feeling of protection.

MareleVlad

There are many professionals here, but only one who is prepared to admit it.  Perhaps you should ask him.  You might be best to start by telling him how old your machine is, and when it had its last clean build.  However, if it is not a fairly recent machine, I would ask someone else.

You should seek the best help you can get because “Firewalls” are not the sort of thing to be messed around with lightly.
