How do you know it's better? Just because you like the GUI? Because it seems faster for you? Could be that it just doesn't do as thoroughly a job as others. Who really knows exactly which defragmenter is best? This is something that is an ongoing debate on many forums. I can't stand people who claim they know what's best when they are clueless.

The reason I know its better is the same reason anyone knows if anything is better than something else..... by comparing the products.

Let me explain it to you since you are obviously "clueless".

1. install both defrag programs

2. install then uninstall a few small pieces of software (just enough to fragment your hard-drive a little bit)

3. defrag using one of the defrag programs then the other, if the second finds files to defrag then they must have been missed by the first.

4 . repeat step 3

5. defrag using the program you used 2nd in step 3 then the other

This is how to compare 2 defrag programs.

Please do not post any comments in 9down again as you are wasting valuable seconds of people time who read your **[ 9down.com refused this word ]**y and foolish comments.

PerfectDisk 8.0 Build 35 has problems. I have tried previous versions and was very satisfied with it. I use to hate Diskeeper but since version 10, Diskeeper has improved to becoming the best defrag program currently out there. It has more capabilities and is very user friendly. Give it a try!

Ok, maybe I'll give it a try.

But this PD build has "problems"? What kind of problems? Is it sad, anxious, maybe willing to die young?

PerfectDisc 7.0 was proven in may reviews to be very best, I got 8.0 a few weeks ago and simply ran the update to get this build.

Speed or time has little to do with it, if you set PD 7.0 or 8.0 to Smartplace and check the option to agressively check for free diskspace (think thats the option cant remember) it takes longer and warns you of this, but its still the best defrag app avail and 8.0 seems better.

At the end of the day stop spamming shit in threads that have zero to do with other apps, if you like PD grab it if you dont, STFU and dont waste time typing here.

BTE, I want this site to start making real profiles for members, so if you misbehave you get warned then banned, and you should need to log in to even grab downloads, spamming shit in threads thats aint got the slightest to do with the thread will get you a warning and then a ban.

Until Peter Norton personally comes up with his own version of a defrag program all others are goinf to be a compromise. Symantec bought him out & botched it up royally. They also bought PCTOOLS & totally killed it.

I think I have the best solution for any defragging software. I have one extra hdd. I simply copy the entire contents of a volume to this hdd. Format the original. Transfer all the data back. This of course when I have the disk connected internally. Does the best job of all & much faster too. Absolutely no fragments of directories lying all over the place like in others.

For the dummies in here heads down and start learning.

A retail is a sale so this means it is a brought version
just install like any software you own no key required if none supplied.

Starting to catch on yet.

get the retail download from here instead.
