Has anyone used this? I wonder if it works with the new WGA thingy?

I just gave it a try. Small ... under 500KB. Go read the MS KB Article 898461 you see referenced above for additional information and another download link.

Appears to work with WindowsGenuineAdvantage. Although I had been through that authentication process several times before ... I found that I had to do it again. So I downloaded the "new" Genuine.exe module to my HD (it is now bigger than it was last time I grabbed it) and ran the new Genuine.exe.

Genuine.exe went on-line (called out) briefly and returned a code which I had to cut and paste in order to download this Permanent Package Installer.
All much faster and easier than it sounds.

I don't know if the new and larger Genuine.exe is Microsoft's reaction to continuing efforts of the Warez crews to stay ahead of MS's attempts to require authentication or what. But it is not onerous.
