I don't think you actually need to do an "uninstall" as you are thinking of it in the conventional sense. There are still a few rare programs out there that simply run and do not write "files" to your HD and pollute your registry with entries.
At least when I downloaded the RapGet 1.26 file from above, I simply unpacked the files to a directory I named RapGet and then I simply ran "rapget.exe" to start and run the program. There was no install routine.
So if I didn't want the software any longer, I'd just delete that directory and the files therein. I certainly did NOT download and install any additional libraries ...
Since the files in the SSL libraries are BIGGER than the entire RapGet download above, I'm pretty sure they were not included in the above RapGet download.
I remain confused by all the discussion above about additional files. I wonder if the information on the RapGet site is outdated as these files no longer seem to be needed / required for proper operation of RapGet. At least on my WinXP SP2 computer.
Or, perhaps, these SSL libraries were installed by some other software I use but I cannot tell. I do know that the above package does not install the libraries and that it works fine for me as downloaded from 9Down.
It would be helpful if someone just simply listed the library files (by name) to which they refer (and their locations if known) and then I could check to see if I actually do have them and you could delete them also if you wanted as part of your un-install efforts. I also have a friend with a nearly identical computer and no RapGet and I could check to see if he had the library files in question .. that might help resolve some of this.
I think such a list would ad really useful information to the discussion.
In any event I am running multiple layers of spyware, AV software and top-end firewalls and am experiencing zero problems so I remain interested in this thread but am not ready to become concerned or alarmed by any stretch of the imagination.
This thread is certainly interesting and potentially useful. I hope we can continue it to resolve the confusion.
