GAITHERSBURG, MD – May 17, 2005 – Raxco Software, Inc, the leader in defragmentation software, today announced the release of PerfectDisk Version 7.0, the newest version of its leading enterprise disk defragmentation and optimization utility. With Version 7.0, PerfectDisk now defragments even the largest drives up to 20% faster than previous versions, while utilizing 20% less memory and 20% fewer CPU resources. Version 7.0 also introduces a completely redesigned user interface and other enhancements that solidify PerfectDisk as the premier enterprise disk defragmenter in the world. PerfectDisk 7.0 is the only defragmenter certified by Microsoft for Windows Server 2003 and 2000 Server.
Designed to quickly/efficiently defragment multi-terabyte drives - Whether home computer, workstation or server, PerfectDisk will defrag-ment the largest drives faster and more efficiently than any other product, resulting in a faster-performing computer and a more productive user experience. And you don't need to be concerned about the size of the drive - PerfectDisk can handle it. And leave you with an optimized drive that will refragment more slowly. Plus, you won't pay a premium to defragment large drives. And that saves you money.
- Improved boot time defragmentation logging to assist in error detection.
- On certain computers, large amounts of "Skipping file" messages were logged during a defragmentation pass. PerfectDisk's defragmentation algo-rithm has been changed to minimize skipped files.
- When upgrading from PerfectDisk V6 to PerfectDisk V7, existing schedules might not upgrade correctly. This has been fixed.
- A new flag was added to the config.ini file to support setting schedule frequency on installation.
- Corrected a bug when using the config.ini file to create schedules on installation. The AllDrives flag was not correctly handled.
- When typing in a computer name to remotely connect, PerfectDisk incorrectly limited you to 13 character computer names. This has been changed to 15 characters. This is the NetBIOS limit for a computer name.

Executive Software by salmonela on 2005-05-18 20:11:44
If you have Win 2000/XP/2003 you have internal disk defragmenter (Start/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter) this piece of software isnt from microsoft workshop if you click Help/About disk defragmenter you will see "Microsoft Corp, Executive Software Int'l". Executive Software is company which created Diskeeper a fine disk defragmenting software which if you install it, will be upgrade on build in "microsoft" Disk Defragmenter.
On the market is all bunch of defragmenting software to choose and one of the best is Raxco PerfectDisk.
Very bad english sorry

for a comparison between diskeeper 9 and Raxco PerfectDisk go to
You are insane man, try this: Open perfect disk then with your mouse pointer go from the top of perfect disk GUI to the bottom and watch change of mouse pointer , when your pointer is about the pixel above "Storage group" TAB it will change from arrow to double head arrow, then stop moving pointer, left click and pull down, ta-da your storage disk will appear and you will be very happy again c.c.c.c....
All I know is that you have a laptop , what software you have installed on your notebook and when your os crash? when you try to install perfect disk or when you run the perfect disk and what message you recive in blue screen, try look in Event Viewer for error and last ,maybe this version .040 will correct your problem
Cost effectiveness by lailawolf on 2005-06-05 22:08:40
I tried Diskeeper, and I actually thought it was pretty good. This was the first not built-in defragmenter that I tried, and I was fairly impressed, but for all I know the others are much better.
My question is this:
I am being offered Diskeeper for $20 and perfectdisk costs $50 and the mentioned oo-defrage costs $45.
I'll assume that the perfectdisk performs as promised and performs better than diskeeper (which was a huge step-up for me from built-in). Is it worth 250% the price?
thanks
