This driver supports all ALC series audio chipsets from ALC101 up to ALC861. It is used as onboard sound on many motherboards. Chips covered include ALC101/201/202/203/250/650/653/655/658/861.
Changes in version A3.99: * For special customize settings. * For unknow chipset resource issue. * Fix CEN and SURR have output in 2 channel issue.

Since version 3.92 I do have a problem with this driver. It completely freezes my Windows XP every time when I run Power DVD 7. Maybe the fault is in Power DVD itself, but I do not experience freezes with 3.92 or earlier versions. Someone else having this annoying bug...?

The Mobo cd driver should not even install the sound for vista. If it did that was an error to start with. Mobo cd would only have XP or older drivers on it. Only use vista drivers for vista.

If it is only a few years old the new driver should work fine.

Type the model number of the motherboard into a search engine then find out the specs on the sound chip the board has. Most motherboards have a visible model number on them if you were not smart enoughf to ask for all owners manuals and driver cd's that belong to the copmuter in question.
Things to ask for when buying a pc,
A COPY OF THE INSTALLED OPERATING SYSTEM (E.G. XP-SP2) Or recovery disk A copy of any office package or encarter etc. Mobo driver cd+Manual Vga driver cd +Manual LCD Monitor driver cd +Manual HDTV Card driver cd +Manual Modem driver cd +Manual Every single component should have these things with it.
