This driver supports all Realtek High-Definition audio chipsets. It is used as onboard sound on many motherboards. Chips covered include ALC260, ALC262, ALC268, ALC662, ALC861, ALC861-VD-GR, ALC880, ALC882, ALC883, ALC885, ALC888, ALC888S, ALC880T.

I would not call ac97 high-definition ever .I use my old audigy 2ZS card in vista and the card sounds better than my onboard ac97 garbage .

FYI, AC97 and HDA are two different Realtek things. AC97 DOES suck. Their HDA codecs however, don't. After that Creative driver debalce, I sold my Audigy 2ZS card, and got my system replaced with a motherboard that has one of those HDA codecs (ALC888). It sounds equal, if not better than my past Audigy 2.
