On question though; AnyDVD tries to connect to the Internet on startup, so far I've blocked it, because I presumed it would check the registration key was valid or blacklisted. Is this true? Or does it just check for new updates or other harmless actions?

second:i can't see the reason why you put this file here from the moment that we already have it from another link of the same site?!
also i can't understand the "Retail" word.Everybody can have the advd file from the sly site....and i say that cause you give us the same key that we already have from the other link of this site.
..and you don't give us a solution with the internet connection control problem that advd has.(not to disactivate or block the connection):)Maybe it's better to post something when it's realy new and it works!Greetings!:)

You don't need to disconnect from the internet, but you need to run the program in trial mode FIRST, then go to "Settings" -> "Program" tab and UNcheck the option "Automatically check for new AnyDVD Version".
After this is done, you can register the program and enjoy! :-)
