Think it's quite old!!!
1.5.0.09 is latest or 1.6 Betas (1.6 Betas won't work with some webbrowsers)

Sun is kidding.
Its update detection never leads you to any higher version JRE.

I don't get it, why post shit like this here, that is free on the net, who care so much about java, sheesh. When you need to update the damn thing, just google it, ffs.
RE : by zZar on 2006-10-07 12:40:55

I agree somewhat.  It's great that the updates are posted here for all to see but not when it's out-of-date BS like this.  Not only is this an older build, but a completely different version.  1.4 was known as version 1.4 (as well as version 4 in some circles) and 1.5 is known as version 5.  Build 9 is current for version 5.  This can be confirmed here.

It is clear to me that none of you do any programming at all. I guess you only steal people's software, never actually modify code for yourselves.  For those of you saying this is old, you are an idiot.  Yes we are up to 1.5.09 or something like that for the most recent JRE, but that is if you use the Javadoc 5.0 standard.  This is an update to the 1.4 standard that is still widely used in the programming community for applications that were not originally developed under the 5.0 standard.

I'll admit this post has no purpose especially seeing as how none of you understand its purpose, but seriously, don't post a comment unless you know what you are talking about. Thanks.

RE : by zZar on 2006-10-09 05:02:42

Yes, it is an update but when you are referring to programming such as SDK's for Java, then you're in the wrong area as is this post.  This post is for RUNTIME and I don't know many that are intersted in this older version of the runtime.  Granted yes, it is still used but minimally at that as compared to runtime v.1.5.0.06 and up.  So before you start telling people to mind their comments, maybe you need to stop first and realize that this post was for RUNTIME, not for programming such as the Java SDK which is essentially what you are making reference to.  Most people who have commented within this post are interested in the latest version of runtime, not an update to an earlier version!  Now go get a towel, wipe the egg off your face, and mind your mouth next time, idiot!

Re: Sun Java Runtime Environment 1.4.2.13 by Farticus on 2006-10-09 10:16:11
Lmao, it is so pathetic you people are still fighting and arguing over trivial java. Who the hell cares about this shit? Can't you people just update the damn thing and move on? Why spend so much time disecting something that's so insignificant, get a life already, jeezes.
Re: Sun Java Runtime Environment 1.4.2.13 by Lovs2look on 2006-10-09 10:32:15
Probably most advantageous to users of NT4 or older windows or programmers.
If you have 2000 or XP then use the 1.5.09 (or latest).
Interestingly I went to the Java web site and they are still only offering 1.5.06 as the latest JRE for Windows.
Wonder what 1.5.08 and 1.5.09 are? Pre-releases? or maybe Beta versions....Hmmmm.
BTW - 1.5.09 pre-installed to Vista RC2.
