The Symantec Support Tool ActiveX Control Cleanup Tool removes vulnerable versions of the Active X control installed with some of Symantec’s consumer products and as a part of Symantec’s technical support troubleshooting tools
Obtaining and running the tool
NOTE: You need administrative rights to run this tool on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.
· Download the FixAdix.exe file
· Save the file to a convenient location, such as the downloads folder or the Windows Desktop.
· Refer to the section "Digital signature" to check the authenticity of the digital signature.
· Close all running programs and restart the computer.
· Close all running programs before running the tool.
· Double-click the FixAdix.exe file to start the removal tool.
· Click Start to begin the process, and then allow the tool to run.
When the tool has finished running, you will see a message indicating that the Symantec Security Check files have been removed from your computer. Download

psp post should not be here wrong forum.
Symantec tool ran on mt pc no worries it
said it found nothing to fix in my norton or pc and that was it.
Just like any of there security tools does the job'
If there is a virual something lerking and norton is warning u
it cannot contain the problem on of these
is more than often waiting at there web site for you to run.

have now idea how to start a fresh copy of windows
with totally updated internet security as the first connection
the pc ever has to the net.

the First connection
the p.c. Ever has to the Net.
Trust me its worth the effort.
1st /Fresh Install Windows
2nd /All Mobo. Drivers Chipset,Sound,Video,Sata,Raid Etc.
3rd /IE7,MSN Browser(free version),Messenger Live & Media Player 11
4th /Internet Security
Now connect the NET to the freshly running p.c.
and do Atomatic Updates on Internet Security & Antivirus as the very first thing you do.
Then do all automatic updates at Microsoft Updates Not Windows Updates.

good advise mate thats exsactly what i do , the only thing i can add to this is to use some stand alone software to format the hard disk first as windows does a shit job of it

I have Seagate's
Latest utility cd for that too
but didn't use it. i'll give it a go next time around.
Am using Raxco Perfect Disk 8 Pro
