Better if everybody just kept away from this piece of crap. crashed my system the last time around. deletes a lot of system files. better stick with tuneup utils 2006. have never had a problem with it.

Re: System Mechanic Pro v6.0L Released by Algalord on 2005-11-02 22:22:59
First of all, the program isn't supposed to fix your PC by its own!!
YOU fix your PC with the program...
First thing to do is to disable all the automatic features of the program...
Then you'll use it as a TOOL, not a "set it and forget it"!
The tools are the same from the previous version but improved, so it's bullshit to go back to 5.5!!
Try it, use all the tools by your own and don't ask the program to do everything alone!!
This way you'll have a masterpiece of software!!
About the "almost daily" update, they're concerned about the quality of the tools, it doesn't mean it's all about problems!!

I, too, had the same problem as the first comment. v6.0f crashed my
system and deleted system files as well, But I knew how to get things
back to normal. Others would have to reinstall Operating system all
over. It seems version k was posted this morning and now version L.
The day is still not over yet. It's a great program - at least it will
be after the fix all the bugs. They should have kept it as Internal BETA due to the ammount of bugsbefore its released. I guess they need money badly. Version 5.5 is best to use as of now. I'll wait for version 6.1 at least.

"About the "almost daily" update, they're concerned about the quality of the tools, it doesn't mean it's all about problems!!"
@Algalord
Morron, FYI, as long ago as in the morning here i Europe
this thread was called SM Pro 6.0 K
Dig it or not ?
Some1 who's really concerns about the QUALITY
never has so many lame realeases in 1 month, 1 week, 1 day !!!
Well, once again, if it's so good as u2 say,
then WHY do they keep releasing a new version ON A DAILY BASIS ?!
Only because " they ARE concerned " ? LMAO
The fact that this 6.0 completely destroys your system deleting the essentual OS files is TRUE !
Unfortunatley I myself have experienced that,
that is why I'm on the side of those who're against this current piece of $hIt.
Luckily, I have Acronis images of my system that are being snapped once a week.
Without them there would be a complete disaster to re-install the system every time you open the current SM Pro 6.0.
Well, I have used S M since their v.4, the new 6.0 is a nightmare !!!

Re: System Mechanic Pro v6.0L Released by Angma on 2005-11-03 16:19:12
First of all.. this new version is a RAM vampire. Unlike 5.5... as far as i can tell... deletes many files, registry entries, startup entries... but never lets you know exactly what was deleted. The regcleaner in 5.5 at least displayed what keys were deleted. The new system mechanic crashed my system when i tried a boot defrag (of course... the last one did too, and diskeeper has in the past before... i'm growing wary of software running on boot other than chkdsk). I had to use recovery console to rebuild my list of OSs. This version.... assumes user is ignorant and doesn't care to see what is being removed. I don't like it. I think a lot of people here are pc savvy enough to despise the program simply because it deletes tons of items and, by design, assumes that you don't care what those items were. I also don't see the point in "checking" your system's health... often takes as long or longer than actually running the individual programs themselves... and it will SUCK your RAM (i have 4 gigs... but it is still annoying) if you allow it... even with a lot of the autoprotect stuff disable... it stilll sucks and sucks and sucks RAM like a creature of the night.
yes... it does give you options about what files to delete... etc., but (and i maybe be wrong) nowhere in the program did i see a list of files and/or registry items--startup items too, that were deleted.

People, if you don't like the way they make it, make one of your own ;)
. stop complaining, and create open-source programs yourselves!
This way it's easier to deal with bugs
You're all nagging about something that COMMON SENSE CAN SOLVE. take a
look in your registry, your files, backup your sensitive data and
that's it.
WHY THE HELL DO YOU NEED A PROGRAM TO CLEAN UP YOUR MESS?! Plus, you
still complain, when they deal with the problem permanently, such as
windows :P
get hijackthis, antispyware web scan from trendmicro, use msconfig and regedit and a good registry cleaner.
Dozens of them are free. And do a great job :)
If you want to support these guys from system mechanic, they need food
to think => MONEY you should pay them. Don't expect something
totally free, unless you provide something, EXCEPT NAGGING!
Reporting bugs would be a start, fixing them would be the solution. So
make an open source and introduce it here, it would be more than
welcome, believe me
