Posted by Emexci 952 Day ago, There are 46 comments, 49356 views
This release will cover on new system files replacement system which should be 100% working fine as far as testers reported. It also have huge improvements regarding setup integration and uninstallation. I made various bug fixes for setup integration which should work much better than version 5.5 and added more options about uninstallation for system files. You can choose to restore system files from setup CD now! You might not know uninstallation will automatically reserve file that has different file version in case you uninstall after applying Windows Update. Now you can choose not to reserve it if you want.
Changes in Version 6.0 RC1
-Added browsable System files source for uninstallation so user can restore original system files from setup CD during uninstallation
-Added fixing file's PE checksum after resource patching to keep files more secure
-Added Launch &Maintenance Center in transformation destination in case user already have transformed the system
-Added missing modifype.exe for Windows XP operating system
-Added partially x64 support for Vista visual stuff but not for system files (experimental)
-Added option to reserved updated system files after uninstallation or not
-Added skipping system file verification patch on setup integration
-Fixed bugs caused by deleting important files from integration after transformation
-Fixed bugs in file-patching engine for uxtheme.dll and resources data
-Fixed themes uninstallation problem (Themes still exist)
-Fixed user picture's frame border disappearance in logon screen
-Removed manual transformation and let user decide to modify system files or not instead
-Removed un-neccessary system files operations
-Updated final Vista sounds scheme
-Updated Glass2k install option to acknowledge about possible system slow down
-Updated system files transforming method to use PendingFileRenameOperations trick
-Updated updating the transformation to act like never applying the transformation before
-Updated visual styles
-Fixed ToolbarBackground sizing mismatched from real Vista style
-Fixed CaptionButton alignment problem when maximized in Vertical shellstyle WindowBlinds theme
-Fixed shellstyle background color mismatch in Aero Style (Vista - Beta 2) in some areas

Re: Vista Transformation Pack 6 RC1 is Released by Anach on 2006-11-25 16:03:12
Yah the skins are fairly average, they dont look finished off.

Better to use windows blinds. You get a much larger choice of skins and options.

Well boys I don't want to spoil your sweet conversation but any releases of vista which are in network are for hardware manufacturers. There are still A LOT of drivers missing for different stuff, so that's why I still use my good old XP. I don't want to sacrifice any of my hardware for nice looking GUI and some additional functionality. Good bless you all and think before write...

HELLO!!!!!! IS THIS THING ON!!!!! Just one question for Ishbir or ishbar or whatever the hell yur name is. This goes for all you fan boys too. Microjunk Windown Vistcrap hasn't been placed on any shelf yet. Check your local Microjunk retailer. It is not due out till January. Rumor has it that it has been pushed back yet again to June(no confimation on that yet). RTM and RC1 does not imply in any way that it is retail. Retail means Retail. So if you want to be a slacker then download RTM crap or MSDN crap or even the Billy takes it in the butt version if you want but its still crap. Dont be a slacker, and wait on the real thing baby. If you wanna use crap then ignore this message, otherwise wait on the real Microjunk Vistcrap thingy to come along.

Maybe this pack could be useful to those who wants just new Windows themes and/or icons and sounds...
But the net is plenty of them.
The only thing I know for sure is that I totally agree with Snakefood (REAL VISTA is REAL CRAP) and I won't install it neither on my machines or someone else's. And, honestly, I'd like everyone to do the same in order to push down every T.C. (TRUSTED COMPUTING: never heard about this?) initiative.
However... what does make some of you guys so angry in the morning or in the night for such comments? :D

Stay cool!

I do not know why you kept on creating your software. I expect a lot of improvements, but they are almost the same. Another issue is within my Yahoo Messenger, I cannot use it properly under your transformation pack. It automatically closes whenever I click on it.
I appreciate your work. But see to it that your creation will be compatible to other programs which might be useful to others.
Or you can create a software for real Windows Vista enhancements.

Re: Vista Transformation Pack 6 RC1 is Released by darksavior on 2006-11-26 03:51:59
**[ 9down.com refused this word ]** xp, 2k3 is much better :)

vista has shit drivers atm so anyone saying its good now must be empty in the head. vista WILL be good when: good drivers come out, you have 2-4gb of ram, highend cpu, highend video. I don't have those so ill stay on 2k3 kthx

anyone messing around with vista, try vlite to take out some of the bloat. still alpha though. i managed to bring the 2.5gb 32bit sized iso down to 1gb

Ok, there seems to be a lot of misconceptions running around here, so I'm making this comment to first clear the facts, and second, mention the *general* public opinion and comments.

Windows Vista:

Facts:
- RTM is out, which means it IS the final version. RTM is the copy they give out to manufacturers so that they can start deploying, testing, making drivers, etc. The reason its out so early is because Vista is a major change in technologies. The Retail which will be out later next year, techincally speaking, is the same as the RTM version. However, MS has hinted that the retail version MAY differ in terms of bugs/drivers/compatibility. Features wise though, RTM has the full feature set as planned.

General opinion:
- Vista is NOT meant for low end hardware, meaning which anything below 512 MB ram, 1.5 GHz CPU, and 128 MB Gfx. Recommended Vista requirements are atleast 1 GB ram, 1.7 GHz CPU and 256 MB Gfx.
From a benchmark performance perspective, Vista is slower than XP on the minimum and recommended requirements. On the other hand, IF you have a very high end system (2 GB+ ram, 512 MB Gfx Dx10, multi-core etc), Vista performs better than XP. And there's VERY few Dx10 based cards right now to take advantage of the full Dx10 subset of Vista, and the ones that are available are very expensive. Also, currently there are plenty of software and hardware incompatibilities, including Microsoft's own Messenger and Zune player!.

Thus it's not surprising that a lot of people don't want to try out Vista just yet. It's too early. Also, not too many people are going to consider upgrading their computers (right now) JUST to run Vista, when XP has been proven to perform better on currently available hardware. There's simply NO REASON to upgrade to Vista right now when all the functionality (gui/apps) can be reproduced in XP. (Except maybe if you have a Dx10 card, you'll need Vista to run it ;) )

Thus many people turn to alternatives like the Vista Transformation Pack to reproduce the looks and other software for functionality. It's logical. There's nothing stupid, dumb or foolish about it.

About the Vista Transformation Pack:

- Installing WindowBlinds before you install VTP will make VTP install the WB version of the Vista skin, which is much more accurate (the transclucent borders, menus, etc).
- This *is* a RC afterall, so there are bound to be bugs. If you think you have found a real bug, please report it :)
- VTP doesn't install any additional softwares, it just modifies resources and installs themes/skins. The only extra little tools that are added are Glass2k and LClock, both of which do not use much resources. You may disable Glass2k though if you don't have a good gfx card (Personally I don't use it as WB does a better job).
- Visual Styles and Sounds have been updated to match Vista RTM. True, it's not as accurate, but having WindowBlinds helps.

Now if you want to reproduce the looks and funtionality of Vista on Windows XP, here's the set you should be looking at:

GUI Department:

- Stardock WindowBlinds Enhanced 5.1
- Stardock WindowFX Enhanced 3.0
- XPize 4.6
- Vista Transformation Pack 6
- LClock
- TopDesk 1.4.2
- Rename My Computer to Computer, My Music to Music, My Pictures to Pictures and so on

Features Department:

- Desktop Sidebar
- Internet Explorer 7
- Windows Media Player 11
- Windows Defender
- Windows Live Mail Desktop
- Windows Desktop Search
- Microsoft .Net Runtimes 3.0
- Microsoft PowerShell (Formerly called Monad)
- Windows Presentation Foundation
- Ripped DirectX 10

IMHO the only features you'll be left out with is Sleep, Windows SuperFetch, Windows ReadyBoost, and Windows ReadyDrive. But overall it isn't a big tradeoff. Inspite of installing all the above apps, XP would perform better even on a low end machine when compared to Vista on a Vista-Ready PC.
