Remember to end Windows Live Desktop Mail COMPLETELY before you install (make sure you right click the task tray icon and click Exit).

Bad description. It doesn't mention at all wth is Windows Live Mail:

"Windows Live Mail Desktop is an email client that can be downloaded onto Windows XP or Windows Vista. It will be a rough super-set of Windows Mail in Windows Vista."

Basically you could call it a replacement for Outlook.

Two of the biggest customer requests for the Message List were to (a) provide the ability to sort messages by size and (b) give customers a one-line view option so you can have better sorting capabilities. I’m happy to report that both of these options are now available in this build! Enjoy!

- Windows Live Spaces “Friends” Integration

Windows Live Spaces has a “Friends” feature – and for those of you haven’t tried this feature out, you really should! It’s a very cool way of tagging and keeping in touch with not only your Friends, but also to explore the sites of your Friends’ Friends and build a broader social network. We wanted to integrate with this feature in WLMd, so now in the Contacts area you will see a link to “Go to your friends list” which launches a new browser window that takes you directly to your Friends list! Intuitive, right? ;-)

- General Bug Fix Areas - There are a few other areas where we made a number of general bug fixes, and we’d like to just point them out to you so you can let us know if you think more improvements could still be made…

· Synchronization – I know a lot of people were running into syncing problems, getting errors and such, and we’ve spent lots of time trying to resolve those – so please just keep an eye on this and let us know if you continue to see issues while sync’ing your mail/contacts/RSS feeds/etc…

· Performance – This is one area where we made a lot of improvements with the last build, and will continue to work on until we feel like we’ve got it right! Again, hard to pinpoint a specific thing to focus on – but if you think certain tasks are still slower than you would expect them to be, please let us know what those are so we can make sure to investigate those for future releases.

Personally though, if you have like a large number of mixed email and webmail accounts (Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, Mail.com etc), you'd be better off using POP Peeper instead. WLMD doesn't support Web Mail accounts like Yahoo.

Point to note 2: Windows Live Mail Desktop is NOT Windows Live Messenger or your MSN Mail! It's an email client that works with MSN and POP3 accounts. Trust Microsoft to come up with long and confusing names -_-

Let's see if this version does not conflict with DPE (Data Prevention Execution) on windows Vista. Earlier versions had those bugs and that`s why I stoped using this software.

Actually, I am almost out of testing MS beta software. The final versions already have enough bugs. Imagine these beta ones! lol!

I have the same problem like WLMD closes by itself. I am trying to install WLMD from many days but it is giving me different problems. earlier version used to say u need to have a working internet connection. now that thing is sloved but this one now. i have not been able to use or see the interface of WLMD. I really want to use this software. Please help anyone.

This is a great tool! It helps in navigating e-mail much more faster than the shitty live.com...Make sure that your Firewall doesn't block it when you install it...That's what happened with my Kaspersky IS 6!
