A CRITICAL PROBLEM noted by Symantec and other bug tracking sites which leaves Internet Explorer open to attack by worms still remains to be fixed, it appears.
The "zone bypass" problem appears to leave IE open to a critical vulnerability if a web page has lots of file:// requests in separate frames.
But so far, unless it's totally bypassed us, we haven't seen a fix for it from King Voley.
The problem could easily be used a worm.

(Nasdaq: MSFT - News) today announced at the 12th annual Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC) that it will provide built-in operating system support for all major writable DVD formats in future versions of the Windows® desktop operating system. This support will include DVD-RAM, DVD-RW/-R and DVD+RW/+R formats.

Today at WinHEC Microsoft Corporate Vice President David Thompson revealed that the company's Blackcomb project will not be delivered as a major server upgrade as previously expected:
"Blackcomb will not be released in 3-4 years [as a single product]," Thompson said. "Instead, we will be rolling out additions to [Windows Server 2003] in a steady stream [over time]." RUSTWORTHY COMPUTING firm Microsoft said there's a bug in its Media Player 7.1 and in the Windows XP Media Player.
Yes, the bug is one that could let some crazy read files or run programs on your PC.
This is a critical bug, and you're recommended to install a patch.
The problem is related to downloading "skins" for the Media Player. This is buzz for the look of the media player, which relies on an XML file.
There's a related problem with Outlook and Outlook Express, you won't be astonished to hear. But Meia Player 9 doesn't appear to be affected.
