This update addresses an issue when you use a USB CD-ROM device to install Windows. A new build of Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2003 will be made available later today. The build, 1137, will be up for grabs for both x86 and AMD64 systems.

Microsoft has provided partners with an early glimpse of the first official service release for its flagship Windows 2003 Server. It is a closed test and thus no public feedback is being solicited at this time, the company says.
In an e-mail to beta testers, the Microsoft server team wrote, "We are pleased to announce Windows Server 2003 Service Pack IDS build 1039-2 is now available for download at BetaPlace.com. This build is provided for partner evaluation only. This is NOT a preview of the Beta."
When asked for comment, a company spokesperson told BetaNews, "That's all the information Microsoft has to provide at this time."

Less than two months after launching its Windows Server 2003 operating system, Microsoft has released a security patch to fix a vulnerability that could let malicious sites run damaging code on the server. Although security experts--even those at Microsoft itself--had pointed to the company's latest server OS as the first test of the software giant's massive Trustworthy Computing initiative, representatives maintained that the patch did not mean the release had been a failure in its security practices.

Thanks sweetpete for this submission. He noted that while testing Windows Server 2003 Enterprise using the readily available Volume License Keys (VLK) and media (for educational reasons alone we suspect) he ran into the following friendly message at Windows Update:
It looks like they learned a lot from the VLK leak of Windows XP in August 2001, it took them well over a year to disable use of Windows Update for people using the key supplied with Devilsown Windows XP. This time they have blocked it before its official shipping date.
